Clothing has been designed to make people look beautiful for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptian women wore false eyelashes, soft body paint and body wrappings to enhance their appearance. Women also had to shave parts of their body to wear undergarments; this was because they used to wear over garments instead of a weightless one-piece dress. In ancient Greece, women wore two dresses: one was a light one-piece dress and the other was a heavier two- piece one. This was so they could walk and look good while still retaining modesty. Women in the Middle Ages had to cover most of their body with clothes because they were not as accepted as men- even today, women are not as valued as men in many countries.
