ایک حدیث میں شعبان کی وجہ تسمیہ کو بیان کرتے ہوئے رسولُ الله صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلہٖ وَسَلَّم نے ارشاد فرمایا : اِنَّمَا سُمِّىَ شَعْبَانُ لِاَنَّهٗ يَنْشَعِبُ فِيْهِ خَيْرٌ كَثِيْرٌ لِلصَّائمِِ فِيْهِ حَتّٰى يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّة ، یعنی اس مہینے کو “ شعبان “ اِس لئے کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس میں روزہ رکھنے والے کے لئے بہت سی بھلائیاں(شاخوں کی طرح)پھوٹتی ہیں ، یہاں تک کہ وہ جنت میں جاپہنچتا ہے ۔( التدوین فی اخبار قزوین ، 1 / 153)
