Quilted, and now auditioning the binding for a pretty finish.

🎶When you're happy and you know it you go sew🎵🎶.. loving this flower garden quilt adventure. This ragged-y shaggy-idy block is fun to make from start to finish. No planning ahead, go with the flow, add a nice yellow polka dot sashing, pin the quilt sandwich, now all set for the machine quilting part.

Extremely proud of my planes, the clear winner of the skies.

It's a different thing to gleefully hold up your newly quilted top, but another to square it up the next day, for binding.

It's a cloudy day with a bunch of aeroplanes in the sky. Looking forward to finish this quilt for a little boy.

Of course the foundation paper piecing fabric cutting diagram requires high precision in drawing, not at all done in a hurry...

I am learning as I am making.
I have spent 4 working days drafting a pattern for a baby boy's aeroplane quilt that I spotted on Pinterest. Spent hours sewing samples of those foundation paper pieced blocks only to realise the following;
-the block is too small
-the tail and the nose of the aeroplane are too pointy
-way too much fabric is wasted
and
-the aeroplane looks like a kite.
Well I'm nothing if not persistent in making a patchwork block work the way it makes me happy...
After some more tries here is the result.

Oh the feeling of excitement, for a new selection of fabrics, for a new project, for an all new day.... cannot wait to be in my happy place.
