TAWAL agrees to fully acquire AWAL Telecom as a strategic move to enter the Pakistan market

Awal Telecom (Pvt) Ltd, a leading telecom infrastructure provider in Pakistan and TAWAL, the largest passive infrastructure company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement whereby TAWAL will fully acquire AWAL Telecom. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals in Pakistan.
AWAL Telecom (Pvt) Ltd is a Passive Telecommunications Tower Provider company, founded in 2014 in Islamabad, Pakistan, under the license from Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA).

AWAL provides full fleet of services to its clients starting from site acquisition, permits, civil works, power provisioning and operations & maintenance all in a tailored package. Being a very trusted partner to wireless service providers in Pakistan and to the local communities in the areas of its footprint, AWAL’s business model enables the mobile telecom operators in freeing up the capital expenditure for their core business of Emerging Technologies while AWAL telecom manages the Passive Infrastructure side of the business; thereby bridging the digital divide for the local communities.
TAWAL, a subsidiary of STC, is a leading integrated ICT infrastructure company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region. TAWAL owns a portfolio of 15,500 telecom towers spread across the Kingdom. TAWAL’s core activities involve designing, building, and managing telecom infrastructure facilities that enable state of the art modular connectivity for mobile network operators and other government organizations.

Through this agreement, AWAL Telecom will be incorporated into the TAWAL organization and continue working on expanding infrastructure for the benefit of mobile network operators in Pakistan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Akbar Shaukat, CEO AWAL Telecom, Mr. Marius Armeanca, Member Board of Directors and Shareholder AWAL Telecom, Mr. Emmanuel Leonard, CIO of TAWAL, Mr. Mark Courtney, Head of International Legal at TAWAL along with senior officials from both organizations.

Today marks AWAL Telecom’s 8th Anniversary. After 8 long years of hard-work and sheer dedication today AWAL Telecom has successfully achieved an unmatched tenancy ratio. Running its operations successfully in the underprivileged and high-risk area of FATA; AWAL Telecom took the lead to establish its fully operational Tower infrastructure with the support from Government and MNOs to speed up restoration of telecommunication to provide immediate relief in bridging the digital divide in FATA.

January 20, 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan announced launch of high-speed 3G and 4G mobile broadband in South Waziristan to ensure technological development of the tribal districts.
AWAL Telecom feels privileged today; being the only Telecom Infrastructure Provider to have already established and laid out the enabled infrastructure for successful launching of high speed 3G and 4G broadband services by all Mobile operators in Waziristan.
