Track and trace system. Pakistan to***co Jhelum
Sales tax track and trace system has been inaugurated at PTC's Jhelum factory, the first company in Pakistan to implement such system.
The system has been installed on one out of nine units working at the factory, with tje remaining eight units producing ci******es will come under trace and trace system by 2022.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and Chairman FBR inaugurated this automated system.

The Directorate of I & I, IR, Lahore and Multan unearths tax evasion of still mills who found guilty of in tax evision of rupees Rs.460 million.
In a drive to curb tax evasion, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue (I&I-IR), Lahore conducted a raid on the business premises of a steel mill located at Ferozwala, District Sheikhupura and unearthed estimated tax evasion of Rs. 400 million. The steel mill was engaged in the manufacturing of steel bars ingots and billets. During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the steel mill had filed Nil Sales Tax/ FED Returns for one year, however, electricity meter installed at the premises showed huge consumption of electricity during that period. On the basis of initial scrutiny of available information and after fulfilling legal formalities, a raid was carried out and relevant documents and records have been impounded. According to the initial estimate, tax evasion of Rs. 400 million is involved in the case. The record is under scrutiny at the Lahore Directorate and further legal action will be taken to recover the evaded taxes and duties.
In a similar operation, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, IR Multan raided on a unit located in the Industrial Estate, Multan under Section 38 and 40 of Sales Tax Act 1990. The said unit was engaged in the manufacture of Polypropylene bags. After scrutiny of record, it transpired that the said unit was blacklisted by FBR but despite that, the unit was engaged in the manufacturing of product for a long time. The Sales Tax number was also not got restored by the unit. According to the initial estimate, tax evasion of Rs. 60 million is involved in the case. Further legal action will be taken after the thorough scrutiny of the record under the relevant provisions of law.
In accordance with the instructions of Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation IR, Islamabad, such operations across the country shall continue in order to detect the tax fraud and revenue leakages because FBR is committed to implement its zero tolerance policy against tax evasion.

Inam Ullah Wazir DC Airport has seized precious diamonds weighing 136 carats along with Rolex watch valuing Rs.11 million.
According to details The Customs staff posted at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi intercepted a passenger zahid khalil resident of Karachi arriving from Dubai by Emirates Flight 606 on 22nd Sept, 2021 and recovered hundreds of precious DIAMONDS weighing 136 carats, a Rolex watch and other electronic items valuing Around Rs 11 million (1.1 crore).
The FIR has been lodged and the passenger has been arrested, on his pointation his financier who was also travelling in the same flight has also been arrested.
Both the accused are going to be presented before the judge for seeking remand. Further investigation is on going. Ends

The Collector Customs Appraisement Peshawar Amjad-ur-Rehman met with business community of North Waziristan and allow them for import of different vegetables and fruits from Afghanistan in one item by the customs.
According to details a delegation of North Waziristan led by President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haji Qadeerullah Wazir called on Collector Customs Peshawar Amjad-ur-Rehman, the Additional Collector Shahid Jan and Assistant Collector Saifullah were also presented in the meeting.
The delegation was led by Haji Qadeerullah Wazir including Haji Abdullah Khan, President Vegetable Fruits North Waziristan, and Senior Customs Clearing Agent at Ghulam Khan Border Sahib Rehman.
During the meeting, issues facing North Waziristan traders and other issues were discussed while a detailed discussions was held regarding the declaration of import of vegetables and fruits from Afghanistan in one item by the customs.
After consulting the traders the North Waziristan Chamber of Commerce and Industry was suspended the implementation of one-item policy for some time at the request of the Chamber.
The Chamber delegation also demanded the Collector Customs to resolve the issue of road passage of vehicles coming from Afghanistan.
The Collector Customs Appraisement Peshawar assured the delegation of North Waziristan to solve problems of the business community as soon as possible on propriety basis. Ends

The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-IR’s Operation took action against a shopper bag manufacturer due to not paying sales tax.
In a drive against unregistered persons who are liable to be registered and are required to pay due sales taxes on their taxable supplies under the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Federal Board of Revenue’s Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue, Multan has conducted proceedings under Section 38 and 40 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 against an unregistered unit manufacturing Plastic shoppers.
The unit was engaged in manufacturing and making taxable supplies of Plastic shoppers involving huge consumption of electricity but was not paying sales tax and had also not obtained sales tax registration.
During the search, relevant record was impounded which was under scrutiny while further investigation in this regard is underway.
Intelligence & Investigation IR Multan shall continue such operations in future in order to detect tax fraud and to increase number of taxpayers the sources informed the MAHSOOL.
KARACHI (MAHSOOL): The Directorate General of Customs Post Clearance Audit has registered FIR against an importer who evaded duty and taxes in worth of Rs.186 million.
The Directorate General of PCA (Post Clearance Audit) has unearthed case of massive under invoicing and trade based money laundering on the case forwarded by Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement South Karachi.
The sources informed "MAHSOOL" that Importer who is based in Lahore has been imported goods by declaring values massively less than actual values.
The Exporter of the goods in a foreign country has confirmed that invoice value declared by the importer is grossly under invoiced and actual invoices have not been declared with customs instead fake and tempered invoices have been presented.
After detailed Audit and Investigation of the case an FIR has been registered against the importer. The duty and taxes evaded in the case are to the tune of Rs 186 million.

During the search, relevant record was impounded which was under scrutiny and further investigation in this regard was underway. The Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue shall continue such operations in future in order to detect tax fraud and stop leakage of sales tax revenue.
