The Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) and the China Geological Survey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on exploring valuable minerals in Gilgit-Baltistan. The signing took place during the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, held in Islamabad.

The forum was attended by the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, along with the Chief Ministers of Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab. Addressing the forum, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that effectively utilizing the country's mineral resources could significantly reduce Pakistan’s reliance on international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Earlier, in August 2024, Prime Minister Sharif had announced a pilot project in Gilgit-Baltistan focused on mining, cutting, and adding value to precious stones in line with international standards. Pakistan has so far granted 178 major mining licenses and currently produces 18 types of precious stones; however, 80% of these exports still consist of raw materials.

اسماعیلی کمیونٹی کے نئے حاضر امام شاہ رحیم الحسینی آغا خان پنجم نے اپنے پیروکاروں کے لیےایک پیغام جاری کیا ہے۔پہلے یہ پیغام پڑھیے:"دنیا مشکل حالات سے گزر رہی ہے،جو کچھ عرصے تک ایسے رہنے کا امکان ہے۔جماعت کو چاہیے کہ نئی زبانیں اور ہنر سیکھیں تاکہ مشکل وقت کا مقابلہ کر سکیں۔اچھی تعلیم حاصل کریں، کریٹکل تھنکنگ کی عادت اپنائیں اور اپنے مستقبل کے لیے اچھے فیصلے کریں۔ماحولیاتی تبدیلیوں کے اثرات سے بچنے کے لیے اپنا کردار ادا کریں اور فوسل فیول پر انحصار کم کریں ۔جن ممالک میں رہتے ہیں اُن کی ترقی میں اپناکردار ادا کریں اور engaged citizenship کا اصول اپنائیں ۔معذور افراد اور بزرگ عمر کے افراد کا خاص خیال رکھیں اور انھیں اپنے ساتھ شامل کریں ۔ایک خاندان میں مختلف عقائد رکھنے والے افراد کے عقائد کا احترام کریں اور انھیں مناسب مقام دیں۔ جماعت خانوں کو عبادت کے ساتھ ملنے جلنے کے مراکز بنائیں، جہاں بچے اور بزرگوں کے رابطے ممکن ہوں اور مختلف سرگرمیاں ہوں۔اپنے دین اور دنیا میں برابری پیدا کریں اور ایک کے لیے دوسرے کو ترک نہ کریں۔"

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd Dai al-Mutlaq and spiritual leader of the global Dawoodi Bohra community, has extended his condolences on the passing of Mawlana Shah Karim, the 49th Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. He also offered his felicitations to Mawlana Shah Rahim upon his accession as the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community.

The Dawoodi Bohra and Ismaili communities share a profound historical connection, both tracing their roots to the Fatimid Caliphate and a common lineage up to the 18th Imam, al-Mustansir Billah, in 1094 CE.

While the Ismaili (Nizari) community follows the Nizari branch of Ismaili Shi‘ism, the Dawoodi Bohras adhere to the Musta‘li-Tayyibi tradition, led by the Dai al-Mutlaq.
