To live between two worlds is to carry a quiet yearning—the longing to be seen not as divided, but as whole. Between expectation and truth, body and spirit, we learn that our becoming is not confusion but courage.
The Guang Ming Theater Ensemble presents two original thesis capstone plays centered on “Hidlaw,” a Visayan word
meaning deep longing or yearning, encapsulates the shared essence of our twin bill production. Both plays are bound by
the theme of yearning, a profound desire for identity, belonging, and truth. “SHE” by Maxine Godito gives voice to
womanhood in all its forms, reflecting a transgender woman’s yearning for acceptance, visibility, and dignity in a society
that often denies her existence. Meanwhile, “Kulilipaw sa Pagitan ng Darwang Mundo” by Arielle Racsa captures
young Tony’s yearning to return to the world above, a journey of rediscovery that reveals the essence of family, memory,
and connection to life itself.
