Simala Church aka Monastery of the Holy Eucharist / Our Lady of Lindogon Shrine🏰✨

2. Miracles: During the late 90s dengue outbreak, people reported healings after praying here. The big one: A replica statue of Mary was allegedly seen shedding tears of blood on Sept 8, her birthday. That’s why it’s called the “Miraculous Mama Mary Church”
3. Pilgrimage boom: After that, thousands started flocking daily. Devotees line up for hours to kiss the miraculous image
4. Origin story: The Marian Monks fled Mt. Pinatubo eruption in Pampanga and brought a Marian image with them to Cebu a9a016054a52

What to see there:
- Architecture: Medieval European castle style with tall towers, winding staircases, domed ceilings. It’s intentionally built uphill so people do a "penitentiary walk" first

1. Oldest Christian settlement in Bohol- Baclayon was the first town established by Spaniards in Bohol
2. Built by forced labor: ∼200 native workers used coral stones from the sea, bamboo to lift them, and egg whites mixed with lime as cement
3. Augustinian Recollects took over from Jesuits in 1768 and added the modern facade, bell tower ∼1777, and stone buildings
4. 2013 Earthquake: The 7.2 magnitude quake heavily damaged the church. It was fully restored by NHCP and reopened Feb 27, 2018

- Architecture: Baroque + Romanesque style, thick coral stone walls, 21-meter bell tower
- Inside: Wood-carved altars, antique statues, religious paintings, centuries-old pipe organ
- Museum: The old convent now houses relics - ivory Christ statue, gold-embroidered vestments, books with carabao skin covers, relics of St. Ignatius. Entry fee ~₱50 for rehab
