LEADERSHIP LENS MONDAY | Decision-Making Under Pressure

Leadership is often tested not during routine operations, but during moments of uncertainty, urgency, and pressure.

When challenges arise, effective leaders remain calm, assess the situation, evaluate risks, and make timely decisions based on the best information available. Waiting for perfect information can delay action—while thoughtful and decisive leadership can prevent incidents, protect people, and maintain trust.

The ability to stay composed and focused under pressure is not just a leadership skill—it is a leadership responsibility.

Remember: You don't need perfect information to make the right decision. You need clarity, courage, and commitment to do what's right.

How do you maintain clarity and confidence when making difficult decisions under pressure?

Join FILSA in our training on "Hazard Communication (HazCom)", an essential topic that helps workers understand the hazards associated with chemicals in the workplace and the controls needed to prevent injuries, illnesses, and environmental harm.

Proper hazard communication ensures that safety information is not only available but also understood through labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), warning signs, and effective workplace communication.

This session aims to strengthen awareness, improve compliance with regulatory requirements, and empower workers to recognize chemical hazards before incidents occur.

🌧️ READY & RESILIENT FRIDAY 🌧️

Typhoons are a recurring reality in the Philippines, but their impact can be significantly reduced through preparation and planning.

A family emergency plan helps ensure that everyone knows what to do, where to go, and how to stay connected before, during, and after a storm. The time to prepare is not when a warning is issued—it's long before the weather turns bad.

✅ Know your local hazards and evacuation routes
✅ Prepare a family communication plan
✅ Keep emergency contacts readily available
✅ Prepare a go-bag with essential supplies
✅ Stay informed through official weather advisories

Prepared families are resilient families. By planning ahead, we can protect lives, reduce risks, and recover more quickly when disasters strike.

🌪️ Plan Ahead. Stay Ready. Stay Safe.

⛑️ 60 SECONDS SAFETY | DROPPED OBJECTS PREVENTION: WHAT FALLS CAN KILL ⛑️

A dropped object does not need to be large to cause a serious injury or fatality. A small tool, loose fitting, or unsecured material falling from height can have devastating consequences for anyone below.

Preventing dropped objects starts with simple actions: secure your tools, inspect work areas, establish exclusion zones, and maintain good housekeeping. Taking a few extra seconds to check can prevent a lifetime of regret.

⏱️ Take 60 seconds before starting work:

✅ Secure tools and equipment
✅ Use tool lanyards and tethering systems
✅ Inspect platforms, guardrails, and storage areas
✅ Establish exclusion zones below overhead work
✅ Remove loose materials and debris

Remember: Gravity never takes a day off.

Secure It. Check It. Respect Gravity.

LEADERSHIP LENS MONDAY | Safety Leadership Starts with Example

Safety leadership is not defined by position or authority—it is demonstrated through daily actions.

People pay more attention to what leaders do than what they say. When leaders follow the rules, remain visible in the workplace, communicate openly, and consistently prioritize safety, they set the standard for everyone around them.

A strong safety culture begins when leaders lead by example. Every action sends a message, and every decision reinforces what truly matters.

Remember: Great safety leaders don't just set expectations—they demonstrate them.

How do you lead by example in promoting safety within your workplace?
