Under the lights of a Thailand arena, 22-year-old lightweight Serr Delos Santos stood into his first professional fight with determination. Facing Indiaโs Manish Chaudhary, a knockout-heavy opponent with 3 wins and 3 KOs, Serr delivered a performance that marked him not just as a debuting boxer โ but as a rising name to watch.
His triumph was strong rather than boisterous. It bore the weight of years of self-control, the patience he had developed since he began boxing at the age of 13, and the fortitude he had developed in his early victories at Mapandan National High School.
The sharpness of his punches and the steadiness of his stance were the only signs of any hardship he kept to himself. His family, his believers, his supporters, and even the non-believers who encouraged him to go farther were the driving forces behind this victory.
After proving himself on an international stage, Serr keeps his message simple for the younger generation: surround yourself with the right people, donโt be afraid to try, and remember that if you lose, itโs a lesson; if you win, keep going.
His motto says it best:
โAlways be humble and be blessed."
Serrโs victory in Thailand is more than a debut victory. It is the beginning of a story shaped by humility, built on discipline, and driven by a dream that refuses to fade.

The Department of Education (DepEd), the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mapandan, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) jointly organized a Crime Prevention and Awareness Symposium on September 16, 2025.
The event aims to educate the community on public safety and social well-being.
The symposium began at two o'clock in the afternoon with an opening address from Dr. Dominador V. Nabor Jr., who thanked the parents for attending. Nabor expressed his hope that they would find the event insightful. PTA President, Ptr. Joel D. Valdez followed. He stated that the School Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) would act as a vital link between the school and parents.
Police Captain Benedict C. Espinoza, the acting Chief of Police Mapandan, stressed the importance of parental guidance and reminded parents that it is illegal for individuals under 18 to drive motor vehicles without a license.
Mayor Karl Christian F. Vega also attended the event, noting the rising number of road accidents and announcing upcoming road improvements in the area.
The first speaker, Population Officer Liza Costez, addressed the topic of teenage pregnancy. Citing data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Civil Registration Service, Vital Statistics 2020, she stated that the Philippines has the highest number of teenage pregnancy cases in Southeast Asia. She also noted that Pangasinan had the highest number of cases in Region I, with 44,367. Costez concluded her talk by emphasizing that addressing teenage pregnancy is a shared responsibility among parents, teachers, police, community leaders, and concerned agencies.
Police Chief Master Sergeant Jeron DG Soriano of the Mapandan PNP provided a detailed discussion on various traffic laws. His presentation covered the significance of pavement markings and specific laws, including Republic Act No. 4136 (the "Land Transportation and Traffic Code"), Republic Act No. 10916 (the "Road Speed Limiter Act of 2016"), and Republic Act No. 10930, which concerns the "Issuance of Drivers' Licenses". PCMS Soriano also explained local traffic ordinances in Pangasinan, such as those related to quarry hauling, road obstructions, and the use of reflective vests.
The symposium served as a platform for distributing crucial information on public safety, underscoring the connection between community issues and the need for a unified approach to address them.

In coordination with Department of Health (DOH), Mapandan Rural Health Unit (RHU), launched an orientation on the School-Based Immunization Program, also known as "Bakuna Eskwela," aimed at educating parents and guardians about the importance of vaccination in protecting children from preventable diseases.
Key speakers in the said event were Cecil Cuison, R.N., and Jay Dulay, R.N. from DOH Pangasinan, along with Mapandan RHU personnel.
A crucial part of the session addressed vaccine hesitancy, a significant challenge for many families. Through clear, science-based discussions and an open forum, the program seeks to build trust and promote informed decision-making among parents regarding their children's health.
Following the orientation, the actual schedule for the vaccination will be on August 27 at the Mapandan National High School Covered Court.
Dr. Anna Karessa Quinto-Ortiz, Municipal Health Officer of the Mapandan RHU, has requested the approval and support for these activities, with invitations being officially communicated to all concerned parents and guardians through the school's channels.
The initiative underscores the local government and health authorities' commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the community's children through comprehensive immunization efforts.
