With commitment to democratic governance, electoral transparency, and institutional accountability, the League of Environmental Advocates and Defenders Philippines (LEAD Philippines) formally announces the adoption and release of 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨. 𝟎𝟗, adopting the 𝐎𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 of LEAD Philippines and formally creating the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂) as the organization’s principal independent electoral body.

This resolution establishes a comprehensive electoral framework governing national elections, appointments, nominations, leadership screenings, candidate evaluations, voting procedures, and electoral dispute resolution within the organization.

The adopted Omnibus Election Code institutionalizes standardized electoral procedures and safeguards that promote fairness, transparency, equal opportunity, democratic participation, and procedural integrity across all leadership selection and appointment processes of LEAD Philippines.

Through the establishment of the NATCOMELEC, the organization reinforces its commitment to honest and orderly elections, accountable leadership, institutional professionalism, and the protection of democratic principles within the organization’s governance system.

Have you ever asked artificial intelligence to make a picture, answer homework, or write a story? In just a few seconds, AI can create amazing things with only one prompt. Many people enjoy using it because it is fast and helpful. But behind every prompt lies a hidden cost that can affect our environment. While AI looks simple on our screens, huge machines called data centers work very hard behind the scenes. These machines use large amounts of electricity and water every day.

‎𝙃𝙤𝙬 Does 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘼𝙄 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨?
Generative AI is a type of technology that learns information on the internet and creates new content such as pictures, music, and videos. To do this, computers must stay active all the time. Thousands of servers inside data centers process millions of requests from people around the world. Because these computers work nonstop, they need energy to run and cooling systems to stop them from overheating.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙄:
One big problem with AI is the amount of electricity it uses. Many power plants still burn fossil fuels like coal and oil to create electricity. This releases harmful gases into the air and contributes to climate change. As the Earth becomes warmer, ice in the Arctic melts faster. Polar bears are affected because they depend on sea ice for hunting and survival. Even though AI may seem far away from nature, its growing energy demand can still affect animals and ecosystems. AI also uses large amounts of water. Data centers need water to cool down powerful computers. Experts say that millions of liters of water may be used to keep these systems running smoothly. In places already experiencing water shortages, this can become an even bigger problem for communities.

‎𝙐𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮:
‎ Technology is important and helpful, especially in education and communication. However, people must also learn how to use it responsibly. Scientists and technology companies are now finding cleaner ways to power AI systems, such as using solar and wind energy. By supporting eco-friendly technology and using AI wisely, people can help protect the environment.

Artificial intelligence continues to improve our daily lives, but it also has effects that many people do not see. Behind every AI prompt are machines that consume energy and water. As young learners and future leaders, students should understand both the benefits and responsibilities of technology. Innovation should not only make life easier but also help protect our planet for future generations.
