🤔 Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Confirms Yuji’s Best Friend Is Still Alive
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 20, titled “Old Soldiers Never Die,” opens with two information gags centered on sorcerers trying to track down Yuji’s whereabouts. One of these lighthearted moments unexpectedly features Kazuya Mino on the phone with Nobara Kugisaki. When Mino asks about Yuji, Kugisaki casually suggests that Aoi Todo might know where he is. This brief exchange confirms that Kyoto Jujutsu High’s third-year student from the original manga, Itadori’s self-proclaimed best friend, is still alive. However, Todo’s current location remains unknown, as Kugisaki is unable to provide any details, adding that only Yuji knows about him since everyone else dislikes him.

🤔 Naruto Live-Action Film Reportedly Filming Late 2026
Unfortunately not much more is revealed about the new Naruto live-action film despite its potential filming in late 2026, but this does line up with the director’s current projects. The live-action movie took a huge step forward in late 2024 when it was confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Wonder Man, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was attached to direct the Naruto movie for Lionsgate (who have been attached to the live-action adaptation pretty much since the beginning).
Cretton will be producing the Naruto live-action movie alongside Jeyun Munford through Hisako with Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions, and Jeremy Latcham. Cretton is also co-writing the film alongside Tasha Huo, but updates on than matter have yet to be revealed. If the film is truly going to begin filming later this year following Cretton’s time with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s going to be a big move forward as fans are waiting to find out potential casting news and more for this new version of the classic series.

🤔 What’s Next for Hunter x Hunter?
The only issue with these hiatuses, however, is the fact that there’s a long stint in between story updates and we’re in the mix of one of the most complicated arcs of the franchise to date. Hunter x Hunter is in the midst of the Succession Contest arc with a lot of new characters, abilities, and more in the mix as they are playing deadly mind games with one another. So it’s probably best to make sure you get a proper refresher on everything that’s happened.
Hunter x Hunter being on hiatus for so long during the Succession Contest has also resulted in an absence from many of its key characters for all these years as well. This new sketch of Gon is the first real look at the young hero in quite a long time, and we likely won’t be seeing him for many more years until the Succession Contest arc comes to an end. That’s even if Togashi is planning to return to Gon after all that too.

🚨 SPOILER ‼️ One Piece’s Imu Reveals The Meaning Behind The “D”
Warning: This article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga! One Piece is finally getting closer to the truth about the Void Century and everything tied to it. After a long backstory centering around Harald and revealing what happened during the God Valley Incident, the manga returns to the present timeline. Luffy and the others now have to fight against the Holy Knights, who have come to take over the kingdom. In order to accomplish their goal, the Holy Knights decide to take the children hostage and force the Giants to surrender. However, the battle is sure to take an unexpected turn now that Luffy, Loki, and several other fighters are ready to protect the island. Chapter 1171 concludes the backstory on a shocking note as Imu reveals that Elbaph is the “D.”
Imu also shows signs of weakness, as if the Giant’s brutal death had an impact on their body. According to the villain, since the Giants’ blood calls out for battle, the kingdom should never have had a king like Harald, who advocated for peace while denying his roots, only to die without accomplishing anything. However, while the chapter doesn’t explain much about the meaning behind the “D,” a fan translator on social media has helped decode its possible significance.
on X, a native Japanese fan translator, elaborated on how the Japanese version had an entirely different meaning behind Imu’s statement. While the English translation simplifies it, the original phrasing is much more complex and nuanced. The account shared that the original version made it sound more like a metaphor or a concept, without making a clear distinction about its meaning. Meanwhile, the official English translation states that “D” could be referring to a title or a bloodline.
Chapter 1171 ends without elaborating further on Imu’s comment, which makes the revelation even more confusing. The mysterious ruler of the world, who knows the true history of the world, declares that their kind is incompatible with coexisting with the Giants.
Throughout the years, the manga has mentioned the Will of D. several times, and those who carry that letter in their names are all crucial characters. Whether it’s Luffy, Blackbeard, Roger, or many others, they have all had a major impact on the world. Although the story has always emphasized the importance of the Will of D., there are still multiple layers of mystery hidden behind a single alphabet.

🤔 Gundam’s Live-Action Movie Reveals Major Update
The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise has found longevity thanks to creating countless new anime series that place the mech into different timelines and alternate realities. One area that Gundam hasn’t conquered is the live-action world, but the long-running anime series is looking to change that. Legendary Pictures and Bandai Namco Filmworks are teaming up to produce a North American live-action Gundam movie, with Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo set to star. While a major platform has apparently nabbed the live-action adaptation, said outlet might come as bad news for those hoping to see this new Gundam project on the silver screen.
In a reveal from the outlet Deadline, Netflix will be the home for the upcoming live-action adaptation. It makes sense for the streaming service to add the upcoming Gundam movie to its library, as the streaming service has created live-action takes on the likes of One Piece, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Yu Yu Hakusho. Unfortunately, it has yet to be revealed whether this means that the Gundam film will avoid cinemas entirely. In recent years, Netflix has brought some of its original properties to theaters, such as Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein and Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man, so fingers crossed that the same will be true for the highly anticipated mech movie.

🤔 Dragon Ball Super’s New Anime Only Has Two Arcs to Adapt
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol has yet to announce a concrete release date or window as of the time of this writing, but it’s likely to launch around 2027 or 2028 given that the remake anime will be airing later this Fall and taking that time slot already. If we’re lucky, the new anime will be launching right after the remake ends and begin its new adaptation of the manga’s story. But that’s only going to give the series another year to develop more of its story. And that’s going to be very necessary now.
The problem then lies with the Dragon Ball Super manga. If the anime is indeed using that as a base for its own adaptation rather than developing its own stories instead, then it’s going to hit that cliffhanger soon enough. Dragon Ball Super’s manga has been on hiatus since Akira Toriyama’s passing in 2024, and is showing no signs of returning. Even with the massive event this past weekend revealing these new anime and video game projects, Dragon Ball Super did not offer an update for its future.
