The event aimed to familiarize scholars with their scholarship privileges, opportunities, responsibilities, financial procedures, and support services to guide them throughout their graduate studies.

Twelve DOST-SEI ASTHRDP scholars from the University of Santo Tomas, comprising 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐏𝐡.𝐃. and 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐒 graduates, were formally recognized at the 2025 𝐼𝑛 𝑇𝑜𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑊𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝐸𝑥𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 awarding ceremony held today, 07 October 2025, at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City.

Ph.D. in Health Research graduate 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐒. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐚-𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨 (Cum Laude) delivered an inspiring testimonial on behalf of the ASTHRDP scholars.

The 𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐃𝐏 successfully hosted its 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭-𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 on 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟎𝟐 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, at the George S.K. Ty Function Hall, BGPOP Building, UST Manila. The event brought together 𝟒𝟐 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 for a morning of reflection, guidance, and preparation for life beyond the university.⁣

The program began with opening remarks from 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐑𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐒. 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐚, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃., Dean of the UST College of Science and ASTHRDP-NSC Project Leader, who emphasized the importance of scientific leadership rooted in service and integrity. A panel discussion followed, featuring alumni insights from 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐏. 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐳, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃. (Assistant Professor, DLSU Department of Biology), 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐌. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃. (Associate Professor & Chair, UST Department of Chemistry), and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐂. 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐲, 𝐏𝐡.𝐃. (Assistant Professor, UST Department of Mathematics and Physics), who reflected on their journeys as former scholars and how their scholarship shaped their careers.⁣
⁣
𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚. 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢-𝐒𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐑.𝐂𝐡., 𝐌.𝐒𝐜., Supervising Science Research Specialist at DOST-SEI, led a detailed discussion on service obligations and the clearance process. To equip scholars for the next step, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐀, 𝐑𝐆𝐂, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, Senior Counselor from the UST Counseling and Career Center, shared helpful job-search resources and career guidance.⁣

The program concluded with an open forum and closing remarks, marking a strong and hopeful end to the scholars’ academic chapter. We extend our sincerest gratitude to all speakers, organizers, and participants who made this pioneering event a success. Here's to a future built on 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦, and 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦.⁣

UST Academic Staff and Alumni who are DOST-SEI Scholars under the ASTHRDP and CBPSME programs were given recognition during the 2024 In Touch With Excellence awarding ceremony held today, 29 October 2024, at the PICC Forum in Pasay City.

During the event, M.S. Biology graduate Joe Anthony Manzano (Summa Cum Laude) delivered a testimonial speech on behalf of the ASTHRDP scholars.

A total of 14 UST ASTHRDP scholars were awarded during this year's ceremony.

The 2024 In Touch With Excellence program recognizes DOST-SEI scholars who completed their degrees with academic honors as well as all Ph.D. graduates this year.
