It can feel intimidating — all those conversions, formulas, and numbers that don’t seem to stick. But the truth is, dosage calculations aren’t about being “good at math.” They’re about understanding how to keep your patients safe through accurate medication administration.

Here are a few reminders to make your review easier:
• Always identify the given units — is it mg, mcg, or mL?
• Convert properly before solving. (1 g = 1000 mg, 1 mg = 1000 mcg)
• Use the formula method:
➤ Desired / Have × Quantity = Dose to be given
• And finally, double-check your answer — accuracy saves lives.
