Planning to close your business? The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued updated and simplified guidelines to make the process faster and more convenient.

✔ All registered taxpayers who have permanently stopped business operations
✔ Individuals, corporations, estates, trusts, and government entities
✔ Micro, Small, Medium, and Large taxpayers

📌 WHERE TO FILE?
You may submit your application to the RDO where your business is registered, through:
📧 BIR official email
💻 TRRA Portal
🌐 ORUS
🏢 Or walk-in/manual filing at the RDO

📌 IMPORTANT REMINDERS
✔ Final or short-period tax returns must be filed up to the date of closure
✔ Zero return is required if there was no business activity
✔ Unused invoices and original BIR permits must be submitted manually
✔ Authorized representatives must present SPA or Board Resolution + valid ID

📌 KEY UPDATES YOU SHOULD KNOW
✨ Penalties stop once complete documents are submitted
✨ Micro taxpayers are NOT subject to mandatory audit
✨ Tax Clearance for qualified micro taxpayers may be released within 3 working days (if no open cases)
⚠ Larger taxpayers or those with pending audit will require completion of audit before clearance is released

Failure to formally close your business means continuous tax obligations and penalties may still apply.
