๐ Thank God for what transpired today in our first Seminar Workshop with the topic โFinding Calm in Chaos: Stress Management for Parentsโ๐๐ Weโre thankful for our inspiring speaker and the wonderful parents who joined us!
We learned that the right kind of stress can actually motivate us to grow and perform our roles better. ๐ฟLetโs remember to find calm in the chaos โ by taking care of ourselves, modeling calmness, being realistic, and staying grateful. Parenting is indeed one of the most fulfilling and joyful roles when we know how to manage our stresses well. ๐ช๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ๐
๐ธ Join us in our future workshops!
Letโs learn together, support each other, and be empowered to take on our roles with grace and joy. ๐ซ

Preparing children for an earthquake means teaching safety through calm guidance, practice, and reassurance. Hereโs how to make sure theyโre ready and confident when the ground starts to shake:
๐ง 1. Explain What an Earthquake Is
Use child-friendly words: โAn earthquake is when the ground shakes because of movement deep underground.โ
Show simple videos or pictures to help them understand what happens.
Emphasize that being prepared helps everyone stay safe.
๐งโโ๏ธ 2. Practice โDrop, Cover, and Hold Onโ
Teach these three key actions:
DROP to the ground before you lose balance.
COVER your head and neck under sturdy furniture.
HOLD ON until the shaking stops.
๐กMake it fun by turning it into a mini-drill or family game.
๐ 3. Identify Safe and Unsafe Spots
Walk around your home or school to find safe places (under strong tables, away from windows or heavy objects).
Point out danger zones (glass windows, tall furniture, big appliances, shelves, hanging frames).
๐กLet kids help label โsafe spotsโ so they remember.
๐บ๏ธ 4. Create and Practice an Evacuation Plan
Teach where and how to safely exit your home or school after the shaking stops.
Choose a safe meeting place outside (e.g., a safe familiar spot, neighborโs yard, or open space).
Practice walking there calmly and quickly.
Assign roles โ for example, older kids can help guide younger siblings.
๐ 5. Pack a Kidsโ Emergency โGo Bagโ
Let them help pack their own small emergency kit:
Snacks and bottled water
Flashlight or glow stick
Whistle (to call for help)
Small toy, comfort item, or stuffed animal
Extra clothes and face mask
Family photo and contact card with important details
โ๏ธ 6. Memorize Family and Personal Details
Help your child memorize key information in case you get separated:
Their full name and age
Parentsโ/Guardian's full names
Home address
Primary phone numbers (parents, grandparents, or a trusted adult)
Emergency hotlines (e.g., 911 or local disaster number)
๐ก Practice through songs or flashcards โ repetition helps kids remember under stress.
๐ฑ 7. Teach Communication Basics
Show older kids how to text or call for help safely.
Explain that texting is better than calling when networks are busy.
Teach them not to panic if phones donโt work right away โ rescuers will help.
๐งโโ๏ธ 8. Stay Calm and Comforted
Children mirror adult reactions. Stay calm and reassuring during drills and actual quakes.
Say things like, โWe know what to do,โ or โWeโre safe because we practiced.โ
Let them talk about their feelings โ comfort and encourage them afterward.
๐๏ธ 9. Practice Regularly
Conduct home or school earthquake drills every few months.
Reward or praise kids who remember the steps correctly.
Repetition builds confidence and helps them act automatically during emergencies.
๐ 10. Pray Together Before, During, and After
Teach children to pray for protection and peace before disasters happen.
During an earthquake, they can silently say,
โLord, keep us safe.โ
After the shaking stops, gather and pray together:
โThank You, Lord, for protecting us. Please help others who need You.
Her Thoughts
As parents, we must raise our children as warriors โ strong, faithful, and ready to survive any calamity or disaster that may come.
Be a little extra patient when teaching your kids earthquake preparedness โ every calm word and gentle reminder today can save their life tomorrow.

LINEAR VESTIBULAR SENSORY ACTIVITIES
The vestibular system, located in the inner ear, sends signals to the brain about the position and movement of the head. It becomes active whenever the head tilts, turns upside down, spins, or moves quickly or slowlyโfor example, when running, swinging, or sliding.
Today we are focusing on linear vestibular input -
Forward/backward, up/down and side to side. Broadly speaking these actions can help someone to soothe and calm, alert and energise, or organise and regulate. Some children will also combine vestibular input with proprioceptive input to have these outcomes.
Some activities allow for a combination of vestibular input such as the hammock swing. Allowing a child to direct their sensory input may also help them to include proprioception (eg. Pumping legs on the swing, pushing with arms on the scooter board, jumping on the trampoline). Stop/start activities will also bring alerting components.
We are embarking on lots of sensory content in the next month, come back to find out more. In the meantime, get your FREE ticket to the sensory summit. Let me know if you want the link!

โAs we honor our Philippine national heroesโDr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini, Gabriela Silang, and many others who gave their lives for our freedomโwe also recognize the heroes among us today. Our teachers, who shape minds with wisdom and courage, and our special parents, who raise their children with unwavering love and sacrifice, continue the legacy of heroism in everyday life. Just as our national heroes built the foundations of our nation, our teachers and special parents build its future. Truly, you are our national modern heroes.โ
Happy National Heroes Day, Filipino heroes and modern day heroes alike!
