No reason for social distancing in the virtual world.
Even if youβre an introvert, working from home because of quarantine may trigger stress and anxiety due to a lack of social interaction. A sudden switch from spending most of your time in close proximity to your colleagues to being all by yourself can be overwhelming. Thatβs why it is particularly important to stay connected.
Staying in touch with your colleagues, friends, and family can do wonders for your mental wellbeing and productivity in times of trouble and uncertainty. Fortunately, modern technology makes it easy to stay in touch in real time. With so many instant communication channels to choose from, you donβt have to feel so lonely at home.

There is something about putting on a suit, making your way through the heavy traffic, and talking to your co-workers in the elevator. Remote work is a weird thing. It creates an illusion that youβre not really working. Your morning routine is very different these days. You just wake up and turn on your computer, skipping all the steps in between. It seems amazing, but be careful β itβs a trap! Remote workers tend to relax more than they should.
Depending on what you do, your schedule can be more or less strict. Staying up late, waking up late, and not being active from the start can be detrimental to your productivity and self-motivation. If your boss still makes you get up early and gives you short deadlines, thatβs not necessarily a bad thing. The fact that youβre already in your office makes it easier to oversleep.
No one says you canβt wear casual clothes and sleep a little longer (since you arenβt going anywhere) but donβt stay in your PJs and skip your morning shower. Set an alarm, get up, take a shower, get dressed, and have breakfast. Maintaining a morning routine will make you feel more grounded.

Staying at home is preventing ourselves from the virus, thus it is a simple but effective way to help our government and front-liners.

Leaving your day job and launching your own freelance business is a dream that many creatives share. However, like starting any business, becoming a successful freelancer takes a lot of hard work, a strong set of skills, and the willingness to learn from others.
There are certain things you need to do, in order to prepare yourself for that jump to self-employment. While you can (and should) certainly start a freelance business while keeping your day job, you need to focus on the activities that are going to get you to self-employment, quickest. Building your skills, creating a portfolio of high-quality work, setting strategic prices, and winning your first handful of paying clients.

Set yourself up for success
If you want β or need β to freelance, there are several steps you can take to maximize your chances of success, such as:
Expect the unexpected. Just because you send out an invoice doesnβt mean it will necessarily get paid. Theft, fraud and nonpayment happen in business, which means they can happen to you. So can medical emergencies, lost files, equipment malfunctions and all manner of other issues waiting to separate you from your revenue. Prevent them when you can; for the times you canβt, give yourself as much of a cushion as possible.
Budget, budget, budget. When your income is unpredictable, itβs all too tempting to splurge when youβre suddenly flush, which can lead to big regrets during leaner months. To avoid unpleasant reality checks, draw up a budget (be extra-cautious with it when youβre starting out) β and make sure to follow it.
Get it in writing. Depending on your work and your clientele, you may not need to draw up legally binding contracts. However, you absolutely need to have a written copy of exactly what you are agreeing to do, for what price, on every single job. If the work needs to be done at a certain time or place, that needs to be in writing as well. Email threads are great for this.
Consider delegating tasks. Since you are your own business, youβre in charge of everything. There are still only 24 hours in a day, so itβs very easy to spread yourself too thin. It may be worth your while to hire some tasks out, such as website design, tax preparation or invoicing.
Set boundaries for yourself. The freelance life can make you feel like you need to work nonstop. But burning yourself out wonβt help you, your business or your clients. Take the time to figure out what boundaries you need for sanityβs sake β no work on weekends, maybe, or no more than 50 hours per week.
Remember what youβre working for. You are more than a worker, and your clients arenβt the only ones who need you. Take time to hang out with loved ones β really hang out, not just sit near each other. Smell those flowers, read those books, see those movies. Travel, play and laugh often. Life is a lot more than a job, and thatβs true no matter who your boss is.
