PNP STATEMENT ON THE SHOOTING INCIDENT IN TACLOBAN CITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) expresses deep concern over the shooting incident that occurred this morning inside a school in Tacloban City, which resulted in the deaths of three (3) minors and injuries to seven (7) other minors.

Responding police personnel immediately secured the area and took into custody two (2) Children in Conflict with the Law (CICLs) who were allegedly involved in the incident.The two fi****ms allegedly used in the incident have likewise been recovered. Investigation is ongoing to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the case, including the reported bullying-related grudge as one of the angles being pursued.

Police Regional Office 8 has been directed to ensure a thorough investigation and the proper handling of the case in accordance with the law. At the same time, all police units are reminded to sustain police visibility and preventive patrols in and around schools, and to continue close coordination with school authorities, local government units, parents, and community stakeholders to further strengthen safety and security in educational institutions.

PNP REPORTS SWIFT RESOLUTION OF HIGH-PROFILE KILLING CASE IN CLARK AREA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the swift resolution of a high-profile killing case involving a foreign national in Pampanga, following a rapid series of coordinated intelligence and investigative operations that led to the identification and arrest of individuals linked to the incident within days.

The victim, a 37-year-old Korean national, was engaged in the distribution of Korean beauty products in the Philippines and had been residing in the country for nearly two years. He was reported missing in mid-June 2026 after failing to return from a scheduled meeting in the Clark Freeport Zone area. Initial police validation showed that he had a live-in partner and was actively involved in business-related transactions in Central Luzon.

Authorities said the case quickly escalated after CCTV tracking and coordinated field operations traced the victim’s movements across parts of Pampanga and nearby provinces, eventually leading to the discovery of an abandoned vehicle in Nueva Ecija where the victim was later found. From there, sustained follow-up operations were immediately conducted, allowing investigators to establish critical leads and identify persons of interest connected to the incident.

Police later apprehended individuals identified by their aliases “Joa/Jao” and “Harin,” while a firearm and ammunition believed to be connected to the case were also recovered as part of the continuing evidence build-up. Additional vehicles linked to the victim’s last known movements were likewise accounted for.

The Philippine National Police emphasized that the rapid resolution of the case reflects improved operational coordination, strengthened intelligence sharing, and fast-tracked investigative procedures among concerned units on the ground.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their prompt action and disciplined ex*****on, stressing the importance of speed with professionalism in handling serious crimes.

PNP SEIZES ₱17.1-M WORTH OF SHABU, 11 ARRESTED IN 24-HOUR WESTERN VISAYAS ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUG OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the successful conduct of intensified anti-illegal drug operations across Western Visayas that resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals and the confiscation of more than 2.5 kilograms of suspected shabu with a total estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱17,142,800.00.

The largest accomplishment came from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, which carried out a carefully planned operation leading to the arrest of three high-value individuals and the recovery of approximately 2,055 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of ₱13.97 million.

In Iloilo, the Provincial Police Office conducted three separate operations that resulted in the arrest of seven individuals, composed of two high-value individuals and five street-level individuals. Authorities also seized around 465 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱3.16 million, along with drug paraphernalia and marked money used during the operations.

Meanwhile, the Capiz Provincial Police Office successfully conducted one operation that led to the arrest of one street-level individual and the recovery of approximately one gram of suspected shabu valued at ₱6,800.00.

All arrested individuals were informed of their constitutional rights and are currently undergoing appropriate legal processes. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for the successful conduct of the operation and emphasized the importance of sustained law enforcement efforts against illegal drugs.

“Ang matagumpay na operasyong ito ay patunay na nananatiling matatag ang ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga. Hindi tayo titigil sa pagtugis sa mga indibidwal na patuloy na nagpapalaganap ng ipinagbabawal na gamot sa ating mga komunidad,” PGen Nartatez said.

He likewise urged the public to continue supporting authorities through timely and responsible reporting of suspicious activities in their communities.

“Malaki ang papel ng mamamayan sa pagpapanatili ng ligtas at maayos na pamayanan. Kapag nagtutulungan ang pulisya at komunidad, mas nagiging epektibo ang ating mga hakbang laban sa kriminalidad at ilegal na droga,” he added.

The operation forms part of the PNP’s intensified efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly through Enhanced Management Of Police Operations (EMPO) aimed at addressing criminal activities that threaten public safety. It also supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in promoting safer and more secure communities across the country.

The PNP remains steadfast in pursuing lawful and intelligence-based operations to protect communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs, in line with the Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP STATEMENT ON RECENT STABBING INCIDENTS INSIDE SCHOOLS IN CAVITE AND SCHOOL SECURITY MEASURES

The Philippine National Police expresses concern over two separate stabbing incidents reported inside school premises in Cavite on 16 and 19 June 2026. These incidents, which involved learners from different schools, are being treated as isolated cases, pending the results of the ongoing investigation, with due regard for the rights and privacy of all minors involved.

In response, all police units are directed to immediately intensify police visibility and conduct sustained preventive patrols in and around school zones, especially during school opening, recess, and dismissal hours. Police Regional Office CALABARZON and the Cavite Police Provincial Office are likewise instructed to ensure strict implementation of these measures within their areas of responsibility.

Concerned units are directed to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident and to closely coordinate with school authorities and local government units in implementing appropriate preventive measures, including security assessments, perimeter checks, and strengthened access control in school premises.

All existing PNP actions and interventions to prevent similar incidents shall continue to be reinforced in coordination with stakeholders to further strengthen school safety and security.

The PNP reiterates that violence in educational institutions is unacceptable. We remain committed to working with all concerned sectors to ensure safe, secure, and conducive learning environments for all learners.
