The Modemโthe official student publication of the College of Scienceโissues this statement to address the claims and concerns raised regarding the NGL entries published on our official page.
On April 29, at 6:49 PM, The Modem published a Facebook post to ask the student body: "Tingin niyo, nagkaroon ba ng 'system upgrade' ang CSSC natin this year?" Answers to this question were submitted through a NGL link to ensure the anonymity of the respondents. It was intended to provide a platform for the students to express their opinions, offer critiques, and raise important concerns on the leadership of the incumbent College of Science Student Council officers.
Every response submitted was reviewed, and each one was published earlier today. Exclusion of an entry will only be considered if it suggests blatant disrespect or harassment to any individual. Therefore, individuals addressed in these entries are free to clarify, explain, or provide context as they see fit.
On a separate note, The Modem has operated with a limited staff since its revival in 2024, hence the limited coverage of crucial events in the College of Science. Despite this setback, the student publication remains true to its tenet: "Connecting the masses to the light of truth"โits staff will do its best to be present at critical moments such as the University and College Student Council Elections to shed light on important truths about the student leaders they will elect and previously elected, without any bias towards any student slateโas this publication believes that every vote carries hope to improve students' experiences in the college.
The Modem will continue to amplify truths for all CS students, even with flickering lights. โณ

"Gin-inform ni dean sa akon nga two days na la an celebration san CS Days," Jeffry Arididon, College of Science Student Council (CSSC) President, stated on Monday, April 13โhours before the college day was set to begin.
In a Messenger chat, Dr. Anelita Obrar, CS Dean, informed the CSSC President to shorten the event from its original three-day celebration to a two-day event as per the order from Dr. Cherry I. Ultra, University President.
Given the context, the list of activities that are supposed to run will be squeezed into a two-day schedule.
"So siguro kailangan ig-sacrifice an iba na activities na diri na kaya san oras. Kay makuri man na i-pressure namon an students na mahuman tanan, na diri kaya man talaga sa two days. Kay an event talaga na naka-plan kay for three days talaga," he spoke.
Meanwhile, Arididon stressed that the event was almost cancelled due to the memorandum ordered by the university, followed by the order released by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the adaptation of blended learning resulting from the economic and environmental crises, yet the college days still push through, lest the students' efforts be left in vain.
"Pero tinugutan talaga kita san una na ipagpatuloy an CS Days. Una san aga, okay pa na three days, na-meeting-an mun-a tapos naayos tapos iko-continue na la an plano. Pero yana la talaga, as in yana na gab-i nagbag-o an schedule. So yana kailangan talaga mahuman siya within two days," he explained.
Although the reason for the setback was not stated, Dr. Obrar mentioned abiding by the university president's instructions.
"Ginre-respeto ko gad an decision, because there is an order from the CHED and [may memo liwat] san University President," Arididon commented.โณ

April 13 - CSians are seen around the university premises polishing their final touches for the College of Science Days 2026, despite the fervid weather brought by the rising heat index,
Set to commence on April 14, the event comprised of various activities such as cheerdance competition, society booths and games, research conference, and the highly-anticipated Mr. and Ms. College of Science '26.
However, concerns arose due to the difficulty in securing a rehearsal venue, Jean Rose Calumpiano, a fourth-year BS Biology student and a cheer dancer shared the challenge they encountered during the preparation.
"Yung pinapractice-an mismo kasi security and then basta-basta yung papayagan. Doon man kasi masyadong mapaso sa ampi para mag-start yung practice. Sa volleyball court man, dami nagamit and nag te-training din ang mga volleyball players. So, nahihirapan kami maghanap place," Calumpiano voiced.
Meanwhile, Marine Biology (MBio) society withdrew from the said competition last minute, Darwin Goopio, a college representative from MBio cited that travel conflicts for the students living far from the university and internal conflicts led them to pulled back from participation.
As the papers, decorations, costumes, props, and other vital pieces fall into place, students remain hopeful for the success of this year's CS Days celebration. โณ
