On this solemn commemoration of the Sag-Od Massacre, we at An Baga sa Dalan Production reflect deeply on the profound impact of this tragic event. Our film, which was honored as a finalist in Cinemalaya, draws inspiration from the events of the Sag-Od Massacre, which occurred on September 15, 1981. This massacre, a horrific chapter in Philippine history, claimed the lives of approximately 45 individuals, including men, women, and children, in the village of Sag-Od, Las Navas, Northern Samar. The victims were mercilessly gunned down by members of the Special Forces – Integrated Civilian Home Defense Forces (SF-ICHDF) during the period of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s dictatorship.

We stand in solidarity with the families and communities affected by the massacre, recognizing the enduring pain and struggle for justice. As we remember and reflect on this dark period, we remain committed to preserving the truth and ensuring that such atrocities are not forgotten. Our film seeks to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about historical memory and the importance of confronting our past with honesty and courage.
