Cainta enforces 'stricter' regulations on land rentals, migration

To manage the overcrowding and ensure sufficient public services in Cainta, Rizal, the Local Government Unit (LGU) tightened adjustments on apartment construction and migration due to the municipality’s ‘rapid’ population growth of 3.8 percent per year.

In an interview, Mayor Johnielle Keith ‘Kit’ Nieto indicated three percent of the increase of population comes from migrants attracted to the services and opportunities offered by the town— noting it being higher than the national growth rate of 0.8 percent.

Mimetic Weevils of Rizal

On July 31, 2025, Filipino entomologists described two new species of mimetic Pachyrhynchini weevils—Eupachyrrhynchus joybelmonteae and Metapocyrtus (Metapocyrtus) daraitanensis—in the journal ZooKeys. Both were collected from Rizal Province, expanding the known diversity of this beetle tribe and offering fresh insight into insect mimicry in the Philippines.

The Philippines has long been recognized as a hotspot of weevil diversity, with Pachyrhynchini standing out for their sturdy bodies, vivid coloration, and, often, their uncanny ability to mimic. With the addition of these two species, the richness of Philippine fauna is once again underscored. More importantly, the findings emphasize how mimicry shapes ecological relationships in subtle but powerful ways.

Rizaleños debunks quarry site allegations

Residents of Rizal dismissed recent allegations against quarrying site operations in the province, stressing that the industry continues to benefit their communities through scholarships and employment.

In an interview, although not directly employed from Helix Aggregates Incorporated, the company that manages operations from the quarrying, a resident living near the site reports that shutting off the operation can leave their livelihood in trouble as its their source of materials.

After almost three years of planning, Cainta launched its first blood bank in the municipality, marking the fourth blood bank project approved in the Rizal Province.

The Blood Bank is located at the rightmost corner of Cainta Municipal Hospital in Parola, offering free blood transfusions to any Cainteños.

Over 70.15% of Cainta Senior High School (CSHS) students revealed that the online world allows them to express themselves openly, and gives them a ‘temporary escape’ from personal struggles.

In a survey, majority of CSHS students spend six and above hours online using social media.
