In the town of Calatagan in Batangas, a fisherman and his family show life through Kuyog fishing, revealing a life shaped by the sea.
KUYOG follows a local fisherman and his family in Calatagan, Batangas as they carry on the tradition of Kuyog fishing. From early morning preparations to catching the fish, the film reveals the perseverance and dedication behind their daily work. Through hands-on experiences and intimate conversations, it shows how this simple fish shapes not only their livelihood but also their culture and community.

Sa bawat paglayag, walang kasiguraduhan.
Alon ang kalaban. Panahon ang kalaban.
At minsan, kapalaran na rin.
Sa maghapon niyang pakikipagsapalaran,
Tatlong daan iyon ang katumbas ng
pagod, pawis, at panganib.
Pagbalik sa pampang,
wala siyang pahinga.
Ang bangkang gamit niya sa laban,
siya rin ang nag-aayos mag-isa.
Dahil kapag itoβy tuluyang nasira,
hindi lang kahoy ang mawawala
kundi ang kanyang kabuhayan.
Tahimik ang kanyang kwento,
pero sumisigaw ang realidad.
Hanggang kailan magiging ganito?
Hanggang kailan sapat ang kaunting kita
para sa napakalaking sakripisyo?
Sa likod ng bawat huli,
may buhay na patuloy na lumalaban.
At marahil, ang tunay na tanong
kailan mabibigyan ng halaga
