Humble Beginnings

The dream that was SNOWPY ICE CREAM started when entrepreneur-couple Redentor G. Cuden, Jr. and Consuelo V. Cuden put up Chie’s Trading, a business that dealt with dealership of rice and other products in the Marikina public market and named after Consuelo’s nickname. From the thriving rice dealership, the couple thought of adding a new product line to their current stall that would not consume so much space. Of the enterprising ideas, the couple agreed to throw their hats into the soft serve ice cream business. What to call their soft ice cream? Chie thought of “Snowpy”, coined after the word, snow, to aptly describe the new product.

Snowpy was first sold in the two rice stalls of the Cudens in Marikina and Cogeo, Antipolo. To their surprise, the soft serve ice cream business became very profitable and customer response went beyond their expectations.

Taking a big leap, the couple endeavored to popularize the product and decided to take Snowpy in the shopping malls. On June 15, 2001, their first outlet located at the 4th of the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall in Cainta, Rizal was inaugurated. Customer response was encouraging. A number of business-oriented individuals were attracted and proposed to share their entrepreneurial skills to the business. Franchising became a major direction. After two years of careful study, the first franchise outlet was opened in October 2003, in addition to the 12 successful outlets. Its first franchise was located at Ever Grand Central mall in Kalookan City.

Today, celebrating 17 years of success, Snowpy Ice Cream has grown to more than 80 outlets nationwide and continues to provide the best soft serve ice cream in the country.
