Meteorologist | STEM in Action

Meet Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, one of the most trusted meteorologists in the Philippines. A former PAGASA weather specialist and now the resident meteorologist of GMA News, Mang Tani has become a household name, bringing timely and accurate weather forecasts to Filipinos nationwide.

With his expertise in atmospheric science and his dedication to public service, Mang Tani uses STEM to save lives — especially during typhoons, floods, and natural disasters. His work combines data analysis, communication, and climate awareness, proving that STEM in the Philippines is vital, relevant, and life-changing.

But what exactly is a meteorologist?
A meteorologist is a scientist who studies and predicts the weather. They use satellites, weather instruments, and computer models to tell us when it will rain, how strong a storm might be, or how hot or cold the day will be. Their job helps keep people and communities safe and prepared during bad weather.
