A common misconception among startup businesses is that branding is about creating a logo or the visual design of your brand.
⁣
The logo is just one part of branding.
⁣
As Marty Neumeier said: "𝘈 𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 — 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘢 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥. 𝘈 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘰."
⁣
Branding is the process of building a unique identity and shaping a perception of your brand—something that goes beyond just the logo.
⁣
It involves your story, your message, how you communicate with your customers, the experience they have with your brand, and everything else that contributes to their overall impression.
⁣
Branding also involves..
⁣
• Perception: How your audience views your business.
• Values: The principles and mission driving your brand.
• Customer Experience: Every interaction someone has with your brand.
• Emotional Connection: The feelings and associations your brand evokes.
⁣
It’s the big picture of what people think, feel, and say about your business.
⁣
Branding has many components because it’s a process and a long-term strategy to build the perception you want for your brand.
⁣
And it is a strategy for how you present yourself to your customers.
⁣
The logo and visual designs are created as part of this overarching strategy.
