A juvenile Rose Haired Tarantula and I stumbled upon in the ACTS lodge on the trip.
Tarantulas get a bad rap in the talkies, but they’re generally super docile.
I amped up the saturation on this pup for dramatic effect. Shot on my 100mm macro.
Being in the first boat on the expedition really means your in the splash zone.
Segundo is clearing the Sucusari of fallen trees so our boat convoy can continue north. Our objectives: get samples from the culpas (mineral/clay licks) and see the site of the proposed road through Maijuna territory.
More on that later.
Note Segundo’s ninja skills as he balances on a shaky boat in bare feet while handling a logging chainsaw like it’s an electric w**d whacker.

Visuals of Tom and Dylans four day hike looking for the sister city to Machu Picchu.
A fews hours by bus and taxi through the Andies from Cusco drops you off in the middle of a beautiful nowhere. We hiked from there, out of money and fairly unstudied, into the valley.
