Anoagainreuse takes unwanted and or excess goods mostly destined for landfill. Denim, fabric, furniture, treasures and trash and transform them into funky, functional pieces of clothing and art, to brighten up your day to be used for a lifetime, plus.
Operating as usual
Day 8 ‘COMMUNITY’
Community! - 🤔 possibly the answer to Climate Change; by going back to good ole ‘community living’ and sourcing everything we need from close by, heavily reducing our carbon footprints. This is how we used to live not so long ago. Lockdown showed us a glimpse of this when the world shut down ie: Skys cleared in smog covered countries, waterways cleared - we were provided with a glimpse of what could be.
Shoutout to all of the communities out there doing their bit to keep things from landfil
Thankful as for everyone in my life
Super thankful for the opportunities that ANOagainreuse attracts
Especially thankful for everyone who believes in me and my fixation with upcycling denim

Day 7 ‘SCRAPS/WASTE REDUCTION’
Finally a current project 😂
A bolster in the making, made from denim and denim seams.
ANOagainreuse is waste free - even the cut threads from sewing are kept and reused (as stuffing for ottomans along with all the offcuts and scraps) Im a bit behind on this idea and have two huge bags waiting to be used as stuffing.

Day 6 ‘REWORKED’
Everything I make is reworked - mostly reworked denim.
This Mork puffer vest is made entirely of denim and is still my favourite reworked piece to date.
One of the best things about reworked clothing is that they really are ‘one-off’ garments, even if I tried there’s no way I could produce two garments that are exactly the same.

Day 5 ‘GARMENT CARE’
I quite like doing the laundry and Im secretly satisfied when I can get rid of a stain 😂 - even if I have to resort to covering it with a boroboro inspired patch (please refer to the camouflage jacket pictured)
This jacket was in a bit of a state when it arrived at my doorstep. As well as the random stain, the elastic had expired and was crumbling, the velcro had lost all its stickability, the zip had rusted, there was a 15 cm 90 degree angle rip near the pouch. The fabric is top quality so it was worth saving.
Velcro & zip was replaced with old skool domes, the rip was mended and covered with a patch from @patchedupaotearoa and the stain with a circular boroboro inspired patch.
I ended up keeping the jacket for myself and am always on the look out for camou’ jackets in any state.
Here are my top tips for garment care;
* Buy wise
* Buy garments that are made from natural fabrics (see synthetic note below)
* Mend garments - maybe make the mend a feature
* Wear garments until they are ACTUALLY dirty
* Spot clean in between washes
* Use environmentally friendly detergents
* Avoid fabric softeners
* Sard Wonder Laundry Soap Stain Remover and a nail brush gets any stain out - use lots of water in between scrubs - its the water that flushes the stain once Sards has done its magic
* Wash like colours together and Whites separately (white is meant to be white - or just buy grey 😬)
* The sun is great for drying, keeping things white, and some stain removal, use the dryer minimally
* Wash synthetics using a Guppy Friend wash bag, Cora ball or the like - these products collect the micro fibres that shed with every wash and end up in our water ways - collected microfibres need to then go to landfill which also isn’t ideal hence my tip above - buy natural fabrics y’all

Day 4 ‘SIZE INCLUSIVE’
Size inclusiveness is one of THE most important aspects of ANOagainreuse garments.
Every single ANOagainreuse piece is designed not only for comfort and versatility, but to also flatter all body sizes and shapes.
ANOagainreuse garments shown here;
* Silk scarf upcycled dresses
* Oversized denim overalls

Day 3 ‘VINTAGE’
@slowfashionchallenge
I adore vintage fabrics almost as much as old-skool denim, ESPECIALLY:
My all time favourite vintage fabric is cotton sheeting covered in fabulous (often bright, but also tonal, delicate and soft) florals.
I’ve recently started using sheets in garments like these overalls (swiperight). I have spent years just looking at them hanging out amongst the denim in my workroom haha! It’s great to see them being loved by someone else.
Im considering making the definition of ‘vintage’ the new mantra for ANOagainreuse;
‘Denoting something from the past, especially something representing the best of its kind’
Day 2 ‘PEOPLE AND PLANET’
How we as humans treat our planet used to upset me, which was stressful and intense. Now I simply do what I can - enter ANOgainreuse. The main intention of ANOagainreuse is to ‘upcycle textiles into pieces of art, garments and soft furnishings’
As people on this planet earth we are fully responsible for the terrible state that it’s currently in. It’s interesting that only now (here in Aotearoa) are we starting to hear about the urgency around addressing pollution, green house gases and climate change via mainstream media.
Fast Fashion and textile production is one of THE most polluting industries in the world, second only to fossil fuels.
We have entire generations who have no idea what it takes to create a garment, or what natural vs plastic based fabrics are -purely because they have been raised on fast fashion. There is a huge disconnect between the production of clothing and people/consumers.
….exploitation of labour within the fashion industry is real.
Our poor planet is footing the bill for our love of fast fashion and cheap clothing.
The concept of fast fashion is CRAZY!
We have the power to transform our planet - for now.
This window of change and healing will not last forever - some say we have 10 years to turn things around, some say we have less.
Things we can do:
Think about how we consume, buy less, buy locally, buy smarter, buy slow fashion, buy from op shops, have clothes swaps, or make our own clothing.

on this custom order pair of overalls in amongst a rather backed up workroom (🤦🏽♀️ I blame a banger of a Xmas spent with whanau & good friends )
I probably have enough palm tree fabric for one (two at a push) more pair(s) of these super comfortable oversized, baggy overalls - each pair is uniquely different.
Hoping to have a few pairs for this coming weeks opening at UPcycled af on Friday 4th Feb
A garment for all seasons, layer up underneath - or don’t…did someone say breezy 💨 😉

Keen on these if anyone has a secret squirrel stash 🐿 🥖 ♻️
Having a tutu with something old, something new, and some things blue (not denim 😂)
A gorgeous floor lamp 💡 from the 70’s, to be covered with freshly dyed doilies. In the background - a new design is blossoming 🌺 a summer, layered, oversized dress, which uses discarded mens shirts that are 100% cotton. Nice n cool for summer! 🥵 😎 🧊

Introducing ‘twood’ - a combo of textiles & wood, in this instance; denim & wood drums! Accompanied by IanBerry.Art the denim guru 🤩

Pure silk and soft 100% cotton reversible upcycled facemasks.
Have to say, this design is my favourite yet, and with the silk and super soft camouflage cotton they are quite the pleasure to wear.

‘Bernina 730’ is home after all but a year of being with the mechanic (waiting on parts, then I forgot - oops, then lockdown)
My most favourite machine of all time, sews like an industrial, handles denim like it’s thin linen, BUT has multiple stitch types AND packs away. First started sewing on a machine exactly like this when I was 8 🤩 😯
Bought on Trade Me - my only ever bidding war that lasted for nearly an hour 🤦🏽♀️ 👏🏽 💫
Looking forward to sewing today!
