Beautiful day at Matahiwi Gallery talking about Permaculture. So cool to engage with passionate learners who know and live resilience. Here are some pics of Co-constructing a definition of the permaculture ethics, solar aerobics learning about sun angles, debating zones on a model farm, and a little nearby adventure on the way home. Let's do it again sometime soon!
I hope you are all good up there in isolation lockdown. Say hi to Turoa. Hopefully get back up there in a few months once this is over. From Nigel and Boo.
On the 9th Day of Christmas ....drive 9 minutes north from the Flying Fox and you will come to the Matahiwi Gallery. Here you can get an amazing coffee and snack whilst you browse the local art work. Marlene also has some great cabins and has put up a very SPECIAL OFFER for us today. Book a cabin during January, mention this post and you will get a free continental breakfast! Thanks Marlene
Matahiwi Gallery is such a lovely place :) we really enjoyed staying here. Marlene and Darleen are so friendly people. Its defiantly worth staying there for one or even two nights. Elisa, Lucas, Pol and Tillie from France and Germany !
These photo of the old school has brought back so many memories for me as I when to this school back in the 1950-60s
We called in to the cafe on Thursday as we cycled along the Whanganui River Road. We walked in to a welcoming crackling fire and were well looked after by Marlene. Good coffee, delicious scones and surrounded by beautiful arts and crafts. We will definitely be back and next time will keep some space in the panniers for a souvenir or two. It was lovely meeting you Marlene and learning some of the history of the place.

We love being part of our communities including those on the Whanganui River Road. The marae at Hiruhārama/Jerusalem has temporarily closed to visitors. This includes the St Joseph's Church and Convent.

We know may riders will be dissapointed but this is to protect our whanau. We will be sure to let you know when we can welcome you back to this special place.

In the meantime, everything else is open including the Kawana Flour Mill, Matahiwi Gallery and Roadside Cabins, The Flying Fox, Whanganui River, New Zealand, Atene, the tunnel culvert and so much more...
