Thank heaps once again to McCarthys for there very generous help in once again supporting the horowhenua U15 hockey team who my 2 girls are a part of and me with getting us to Nelson this year for there tournament who I also had the pleasure of being away with for the week. Amazing to work for such an awsome company
Dammit Jim, you had ONE job!!!
Hellooo Taranaki!
Taken top of Te Ruakaka, Waimarino.

Never gets old! #Ruapehu
#CentralNthisland. Taranaki, taken from 8km Kaitara rd, Waimarino.
Fifty years on, and it's another proud day for the old man's family. I've been honoured with the opportunity to operate one of the 58 tonners out of the Masterton depot.Ironically its a new Mercedes. In 1969 the old man Boyce Pirini was the driver /operator for Arthur Mccarthy and Rex Burgess in their first brand new Mercedes 2624. 265hp. It was fitted out, with logging gear and two axle space trailer by Tui Trailers Rotorua. If I remember correctly the first 2624 in the country.
The unit was based out of owhango where we lived, a typical country village full of forestry workers, Mill hands and their families. The Mill and houses were owned by The Dominion Timber Company.
This was an era in our lives full of hunting, trout fishing, wood chopping, rugby, the brown quart bottle and of course the work, from bush gangs, machine operators, log truck drivers, to mill workers.
I have fond memories as a 14yr old with my twin brother Nobby riding with the old man carting throughout the King Country delivering logs to Owhango and National Park saw mills. It was common for the truck and trailer units to be fully loaded with one to three logs, mainly Rimu, Kahikatia, Matai and Totara. During this time I would get to meet Arthur and Mark.If Mark wasn't with his dad, I also had the privilege to score a ride with Arthur in his petrol international 190,later l believe the inter was repowered with a Cummins diesel.
ln the ninetys Nobby was also employed by Mccarthys as a operator loading trucks out of Keko Rd Turangi /Taupo this is where Nobby got to know the one and only "Uncle". When l started with Mccarthys in 2012 l would often meet other drivers and operators, they would say how's it going Nobby, l would just smile and nod my head, I didn't know who they were.
As I get closer to that golden card, my goal is to get ten years service in, and maybe continue longer, if my health and fitness allows. If I cut back on my brisket and puha, can maintain 10,000 steps in the Bush hunting, I'm in with a chance.

Once again I feel humbled and honoured our whanau has been part of this company over two generations, a company that has good policies, safety procedures, wages, conditions, consistent work and great family values. As the next generations come on l hope our family ties continue with Mccarthys. I have six mokos, all beautiful girls one of them will surely want to drive a logging truck "surely".

Nga whakawhetai nui kite whanau Mccarthy.
Cheers thanks for everything.
Sammy.

Good afternoon good people.

It is with much sadness to hear we have lost one of our employees today.
Owen Shiel, one of our Taranaki based operators.
Owen drove #99 for us and had a medical event in Febuary this year caused by the return of some cancer he had bravely fought off last year.
He was a good man who enjoyed his job, his truck and his workmates around him. he was a true believer in "Proud People Loyal Service"
Our thoughts and prayers are with Owens family and wife Rach who has fought this battle with Owen all the way. May he rest in Peace.

Take care this weekend, enjoy some family time.
kind regards
Mark

With a heavy heart we wanted to pass on for those that knew Geoff Duff he has sadly lost his battle with the dreaded C yesterday
After a number of years with the CVIU Geoff joined our team in Masterton helping out with driver training and assessments while also doing training in his own right and more recently also helping out with night shift runs from the Masterton yard to port
Geoff was always a pleasure to deal with regardless of the circumstances over the course of his working careers and he will be greatly missed
Our sincere condolences also go out to Geoff’s family

COME JOIN THE TEAM!

We are looking for professional, fully qualified Class 4 or 5 driver's to join a progressive logging truck company with a great culture and attitude to health and safety.
The role is based in Karioi (between Ohakune and Waiouru).

McCarthy Transport is a company that looks after their employees. We have around 110 trucks in our fleet and over 60 years worth of experience. Logging experience would be fantastic but we have driver trainers on-board the team to ensure full training in our industry is given.

Please apply now through Facebook but if you have questions just call Stephanie on 021 190 1919.

Show us your Gumboots! It’s Gumboot Friday - the day we chuck on our Gummies and show our support for a fantastic cause, I AM HOPE. Post a picture in the comments of how you’re mucking in in your gumboots today 🥾📸

I AM HOPE is the youth and community focused support group run by The Key to Life Charitable Trust, started by Mike King. For the last three years Key To Life have been promoting positive attitudinal societal change in schools and communities up and down the country, and funding private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists.

We were lucky enough to have Mike King come and speak to our team at our 2019 Business Conference. He is unconventionally inspiring and the work he does through schools and connecting with NZ’s youth has made a huge difference to many.

So come on team, chuck on your gummies and flick us a pic. The most creative photo (as judged by us) will have a bit or McCarthy’s merch sent their way. If you can, head over to https://www.iamhope.org.nz/donate to find out how you can donate.

Ok team, so as of 11.59pm today we're at Alert Level 4 here in New Zealand. That means we band together as a nation and self-isolate to stamp out COVID-19.

To our staff, families, communities and customers, our Proud People Loyal Service Values underpin who we are. Stay kind to each other over the coming weeks. We are in this together and will support each other through. We are with you.

We urge everyone to be sensible during this time. Stay at home. Physically distance yourself from those outside of your household. Physical distancing doesn't mean social distancing. Keep in touch with each other. Support each other. Check on your neighbours. Video chat with your family and friends. Get out for a walk.

Stay safe team - see you on the other side

More importantly, thanks to the team for putting in the mahi today and the families for giving us that precious time.
