Iโve just been told I can drive! So I wonโt be needing your amazing service anymore.
I just want to say thank you so so so much for your amazing service, all your staff have been outstanding and made a tough time so much easier. Master L will miss seeing you all every day! Please pass on my thanks to all the drivers, they have been great ๐ ๐ thank you ๐
We often see other road users drive without lights on in rainy or foggy conditions, or at dusk. Please be safe on the roads ๐ผ
At all times of the year, and especially during winter, you need to be able to be seen by other people travelling.
Hereโs a reminder on when to use your headlights and the different settings.
Even if you have automatic lights, always check youโre using the correct setting for the conditions - whether it is dark, raining, or foggy.
Visit our website for more information about driving during winter: https://www.nzta.govt.nz/winter-driving/

Happy 3rd birthday to this clever boy ๐

Today we celebrate Matariki, and the beginning of the new year in the Mฤori lunar calendar.
Last late night trip for our 101 year old client from ECB Bridge Club. We assisted our client for the last 6 years to play Bridge 4 days a week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they played from 7:10pm to 10:30pmโฆ driver arrives back home around 11pm on those days after taking our client home.
What a privilege to have supported our client to remain independent and able to keep playing her favourite card game for a number of years after she stopped driving.
Always a pleasure, never a chore ๐

Happy Pink Shirt Day!
Are you wearing your pink shirt today?
By taking part in Pink Shirt Day 2024, you will be doing your part to eliminate bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting kindness and inclusion.

Meet our newest driver Nick ...
How long you have been a driver?
For Driving Miss Daisy, almost 3 months ... In life? 24 years.
How long have you been living in NZ / on the North Shore?
I've lived in NZ my entire life. Born in Auckland, but have only lived on the Shore for five years so far.
Why did you choose to become a Daisy driver?
DMD appealed to me, as it involves helping people more directly than what I've done in previous roles. It brings an immense level of satisfaction. It's a delight making other people smile, and them making you smile in return. ๐
When your time as a Daisy driver comes to an end, what will you do?
Too soon! I've not contemplated that yet, having only just started the role ๐
What one thing in life should always be free?
Kindness and fairness & equality and respect. โ
What words do you live by / what is your life motto?
Well, I've always taught my kids that respect is paramount. And I've told them that manners and honesty are important in life. Hopefully you can always apply both at once, but if you can only choose one, then go with honesty. I'd like to think that I live by these principles. ๐
What does success look like to you?
Internal happiness. I am finally learning this, and am actively trying to achieve it. Being surrounded by wonderful people helps with this! ๐ป๐ผ
This week is NZ Sign Language week!
Why it is important to help NZSL thrive? Because NZSL is a beautiful living and evolving language. NZSL enables the Deaf community to thrive and break down barriers. NZSL is for everyone.
We are excited to promote our treasured NZSL to all Kiwis, and we are looking forward to celebrating everyday Deaf Kiwis.
So, put your hands up if youโre ready to sign with us! ๐๐ฝ

Wednesday 8 May 2024 is International Receptionistsโ Day https://www.internationalreceptionistsday.com/
The Driving Miss Daisy North Bays / Albany team of drivers want to show recognition for the importance of a receptionist's role. They are usually the first person we meet when we visit a company or business.
We value the friendships we have with the receptionists at all the various rest homes, villages, medical centres, businesses and other organisation that we visit on a daily basis.
Thank you for being the friendly face to greet us and our clients. We appreciate you!

Driving Miss Daisy โ Always a Pleasure, Never a Chore % Driving Miss Daisy โ always a pleasure, never a chore. New Zealandโs number one companion driving service. Call Driving Miss Daisy and ride with a friend.
Great feedback from a client's daughter ...
Hello there, thanks once again for Dad's fabulous experiences with your team. He is thoroughly enjoying himself! He never mentions the cancer journey - too busy enjoying your team's chats in the car - which is great. ๐ผ
We are privileged to transport numerous clients to Abilities every week. Such a great place to give all employees a purpose ๐คฉ๐ผ
Lest we forget. Today Driving Miss Daisy Milford remembers those fallen and we give thanks for the sacrifices they made.

New Zealanders are leaving the conversation too late.
Which we can understand. It is a crunchy topic to bring up but by having the conversations now, it can make things easier and more comfortable for everyone in the future.
Here is what you should be talking about โ and how to go about it.
๐ผStart the conversation now, no matter the age of the person. Talk about what they want to happen before they have lost their ability to drive or start to lose their independence.
๐ผGet the whole family involved so everyone knows what the plan is and is on the same page.
๐ผApproach it softly, try easing into the topic by using โIโm wondering...โ or โI was just thinking..."
Remember this is about the person getting to make their own decisions and have a say as to what they would like to happen.
