Our garden is looking wonderful in all its spring lushness. My favourites are the daffodils but the azaleas, rhododendrons, kowhai, flowering cherries and lavender are just magnificent too.

For our guests' use we have just installed a 16 Amp Schneider electric vehicle charger at Acacia Heights Gardens.

Lake Taupo looks primeval this morning covered with a layer of fog with the steam plumes rising from the geothermal fields.

Ten days ago Jayden, Harriet, Sandra and Laura stayed with us from Thursday through to Sunday. They came to us from Whangarei and Auckland. They booked all the rooms in our Lodge and loved the peace and quiet and soaking in the spa pool. But they also enjoyed going for walks and visiting Mt Ruapehu about 90 minutes south of us.

Anita and Peter stayed with us last week. Anita lives and works in Auckland and Peter runs his concrete crushing and screening business in Wellington. It was Anita's birthday on Friday 2 July so they celebrated her birthday while they were here. But what made their time with us even more special was they got engaged! They are now planning on having their wedding here at our place. We can accommodate 10 people - four in our Cherry Tree Cottage and six in the main Lodge.

We created a flat pad as a wedding marquee site in March last year with a wonderful view of Lake Taupo and Mt Tauhara.

Come and check us out. It's a quiet spot to have a romantic getaway, a great place to get engaged and a wonderful place for a wedding.

Snow fell at our place this week, a sign that Whakapapa and Turoa skifields on Mt Ruapehu are ready for winter fun.

We are always working to improve the experience for our guests. Over the last eighteen months we have:
- double-glazed the cottage and guest rooms on the south side of the house - painted the outside of the house and front deck
- added on a double garage with plenty of internal storage
- installed a new toilet upstairs and reconfigured our office space
- installed a new bathroom downstairs
- built a new deck from the master bedroom
- built firewood storage under the new deck
- built a pergola on the south side of the house to support wisteria
- paved the guest entrance and improved disabled access
- installed outside lighting up our driveway and around the garden

Snow is rare in Taupo, especially in Acacia Bay where we live. But there is now plenty of snow for the skifields on Mt Ruapehu.

It was a treat to have snow falling at home this week, even though it did not stay long.

We received news today that we have won this award again. It places us in the top 10% of hotels world-wide.

We hosted this lovely group from Auckland recently. They booked out the whole of the Lodge.

From left, clockwise are Chris, Kate, James, Shae, Anais and Mattias. It was a joy for us seeing them luxuriating in the hot tub, chilling in the gazebo and enjoying the view of Lake Taupo, Mt Tauhara and farmland.

We are part of the Taupo Sustainable Business Network. The meeting this month was held at Cosy Corner cafe. It was inspiring to hear Camilla talk about what she is doing in the cafe to live sustainably and contribute positively to the community.

It is such a pleasure sitting out on our deck looking across to Taupo town and Lake Taupo.

So we have just finished repairing and painting the deck. Heather and I did all the work ourselves.

It was hard work, but we are pleased with the result.
