Our beautiful Lake Taupo. The mountains you can see in the background are Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro of Tongariro National Park. They are officially active volcanoes but can be explored during low alert levels. Not to sure about hiking a volcano? Our resident duck Daisy will quack you up! She loves landing onboard to say hello to our crew and customers.

About 26,500 years ago, a massive volcanic eruption darkened the skies across Southern Hemisphere. A caldera was left behind which filled with water. The result was the stunning lake that we know today as Lake Taupo.

You will still find hot springs of water where geothermal heat seeps through from the ground. Perfect for digging your toes into!

In 1976, Matahi Brightwell had a vision of the tattooed face of his ancestor Ngatoroirangi as he paddled past a rock face on Lake Taupo.

With the help of a team of artists and carvers, his vision became a reality in 1980.

40 years later, this stunning example of Maori art is one of the most visited attractions in the North Island of New Zealand.

The mountains of the Tongariro National till covered in their winter cloaks. These sacred mountains are one of the main reasons why a trip on Lake Taupo is so special.
