Dear customers yesterday we saw some taxi cars with white taxi top lights. We are getting complaints from some customers that they charge them way too much then then normal taxi fare. Please be aware of fake taxis these taxis were not belongs to any company from Taupo and they trying to rip off our community by taking advantage of busy time. We have fare schedule in all our cars and all our taxi meters set as per as that taxi schedule. No driver can charge more than meter price. Please look for fare schedule displayed in our taxis.

Blue Bubble Taxis Advise for Passengers

To help limit the spread of any virus, those who are unwell should stay at home. If you’re unwell and must travel, private transport is encouraged. If that’s not possible, call Healthline for guidance first (0800 358 5453)
If you are well, and are not required to self-isolate, then it is safe to continue to use public transport.
Measures that passengers could undertake including
• Stay home if unwell.
• Sitting in the rear seat diagonally opposite from the driver
• Using card PayWave rather than cash
• Offering to carry and store their own luggage
• Covering the mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and safely discarding used tissues.
• You do not need to wear a mask if you are well.
• If you have been asked to self-isolate, please do so. Information on how to do this is available on www.health.govt.nz.

Blue Bubble Advice for Taxi Drivers

If passengers have arrived from overseas, and are required to go into self-isolation for 14 days, and intend to use public transport to get home:
• They may use public transport, if they are well (but they are encouraged to use private transport if possible).
• While travelling, they should use hand sanitiser regularly;
• Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow;
• Where possible, sit in the rear seat diagonally opposite from the driver;
• If they are unwell, they should seek advice from Healthline before they travel onwards; and
• Once they reach their destination, they cannot use public transport, taxis or similar methods until they finish their 14 days of self-isolation.

If you have concerns about carrying a passenger who has recently arrived from overseas, please call Healthline (0800 358 5453). NOTE: You are not obligated to carry a passenger who you believe may be harmful to your health should you have specific reasons for concern.

• People who, due to the nature of their job, may be unable to maintain more than 2 metres distance, for more than 15 minutes, from a person with potential COVID19 symptoms – facemasks and gloves may be used if this contact is likely to occur.
• For those handling cash or tickets, and unable to wash their hands frequently, hand sanitiser is a suitable alternative. Reducing instances of cash handling may also assist.
• However, hand hygiene and cough/sneeze etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues and wash hands) will have a bigger impact than PPE.
