Great news for all of us, the roundabout project going well! Great work team!

Things have been going great on the new Kiddle Drive/Arrowsmith Avenue roundabout, with all of the drainage work complete and the roundabout really starting to take shape. While there are still a few weeks of work to go before the project is complete, our contractors will be temporarily opening the intersection from 28 January to 7 February, so there will be no need to follow the detour during this time. The team will still be onsite working however, so please drive carefully if you’re passing through this area.

We’ll have to do one more short road closure from 8 – 13 February to finish off the pavement and concrete works, and then the project should be complete by mid-February. While the closure is in place, pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to move through the area with signage on site to direct everyone.

Thanks for your patience everybody, the home stretch is in sight!

UPDATE 4.15pm: The pop-up testing station at the Taupō Events Centre has closed for the day and will open again tomorrow (Sunday 14 November) from 8.30am to 3pm.

Our friends at Lakes District Health Board have opened a pop-up COVID-19 testing station this afternoon at the Taupō Events Centre on AC Baths Avenue. Look out for signage in the western carpark.

This testing station will remain open until 4pm today or longer if demand requires it. It will open again tomorrow (Sunday 14 November) from 8.30am to 3pm. The Taupō community testing centre, 79 Miro St opens 9am to 3pm daily.
Pihanga Health in Tūrangi is testing 11am to 1pm on Sunday.
