RNZN Alpine & Ski Club

Hi all,

The www.rnznasc.org.nz website is going through a domain renewal at the moment as it migrates to another provider. In the meantime, you can access the lodge booking site here:

The snows been falling
Post Inter-ship photo from 360 camera.... Rather pointless with the limited visibility!
Here's a little video from the ski champs. I included the start gate and a few things that may make it useful to show people who may want to do it in the future. Happy viewing :-)
Cleaning stations start young at the lodge!

This is the official page of the Royal New Zealand Navy Alpine and Ski Club The Royal New Zealand Navy Alpine and Ski Club is a private club set up for the benefit of past and present members of the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN), the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve (RNZNR) and the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNZNVR).

Operating as usual

[09/08/21]   Hi Club Members. We can now take Lodge bookings from Members living in regions that are in level 2. It will be the Members responsibility to scan in, ensure bubble spacing in communal areas and good cleaning is achieved to save us from becoming a location of interest. Make your bookings in the usual way. I may need to restrict numbers to ensure room spacing. Regards, Kerry. Lodge Manager.

[09/06/21]   From your Club Captain:
Kia Ora team,
RAL have now cancelled all events for the remainder of 2021. I'll be booking in next years dates shortly.
Message from RAL below:
Kia Ora,
At Mt Ruapehu, we are committed to preventing the spread of Covid-19. Due to government regulations, we are unable to open the mountain to the public until we reach Alert Level 2. At this stage, we do not know how long it will be until this level can be reached.
Due to the number of people involved in most of our events, we would be unable to hold these at Alert Level 2. We would need to be at Alert Level 1 for these events to be successful. Given the uncertainty around Covid-19 and Alert Levels, in particular, the likelihood of reaching Alert Level 1 before the season ends - we have made the very difficult decision to cancel all events for the rest of the season.
We have made the call to cancel, as opposed to postponing, as the spring snow conditions are less ideal and not conducive to holding these events. This decision has been made with participant, spectator and staff health and safety in mind.
It is really disappointing for us that this Covid-19 outbreak has happened now, given all the work that has gone on behind the scenes to create our event calendar.
We are sad that we wonโ€™t get to see you all at these events but hope that we can get to Alert Level 2 and you can at least come riding again. We will be back next year, and hopefully Covid-19 will have less of an impact on New Zealand and the events industry as a whole.
All the best and stay safe
The Mt Ruapehu Events Team
Hope you are all well.

[08/24/21]   After the aborted Navy Inter-Ship and Club Ski & Board Champs we now find ourselves in uncertain times. Bookings at your Lodges in the near future will be in accordance with current gathering rules. It is unlikely we will be able to accept bookings until level two restrictions. I will update the page when futher is known. Regards, Kerry. Lodge Manager.

[08/19/21]   Kia ora team! This years champs have been cancelled due to lockdown.

If we are able to reschedule Iโ€™ll be in contact on this page and via the Drift.

Hope you are well locked down wherever you are ๐Ÿ˜Š

Another great set of Navy Intership and Club Champs run (as smooth as a gravy sandwich) by Tammy Tarr our Club Captain. There she is trying to get out of the photos ๐Ÿ˜Š

Royal New Zealand Navy

What's this? We call them RHIBโ€™s (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats) and we use them to board vessels at sea. At the Devonport Naval Base Open Day this Saturday you can get to have a ride in one. Tag someone you think will be keen to join in the fun.

Another great working bee completed by the usual workers. A lot was achieved. Yard tidied, firewood stacked, windows and walls painted, rugby watched, meals shared, dits exaggerated. The rest of you don't know what you are missing ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks Jo for some more of your award winning chocolates, u r the ๐Ÿ’ฃ

Having a feed after a hard days slog at the Club working bee. Go the Canes.....

[03/15/17]   We will be having 2 working Bees to work on your club and get it ready for the Ski Season. First one will be 13 & 14 May. Hopefully we will get some painting of the Lodges and a yard clean done. There are some inside jobs as well. Second WB will be 17 & 18 June where we will finish what we didn't in the first one as well as a complete spring clean. Contact Kerry Dornbusch if you can help.

[08/31/16]   Congrats to all the racers and thanks to Tammy for all her work. Obviously my bribe was not big enough to move me up into the top 3? What we need now is nominations for the "biggest wipeout" trophy. All I saw was Paul McMichaels 2 prangs but they were not as spectacular as he has displayed in the past :-) Please nominate someone you saw have an oops and also comment about how good it was and we will make a decision on friday night. Happy dobbing!
