One year of Precision Layout Solutions! 🎉

Can’t quite believe it’s already been 1️⃣ year since PLS officially became a registered business.

Before starting the company, I spent a lot of time researching the technology, the industry and where construction set-out was heading. The more I learnt, the more convinced I became that this was the right move and that there was a real opportunity to do things differently here in New Zealand.

It’s been a massive first year — plenty of kilometres, early starts, late finishes, new connections, great projects and a huge amount of learning along the way.

And we’re only getting started.

The goal has always been bigger than simply putting lines on the ground. We want to keep learning, keep investing in technology, keep improving what we offer and continue pushing construction set-out forward in New Zealand.

There’s plenty more movement to come from PLS, and I’m excited to see where the next year takes us.

We’re proud to announce that Precision Layout Solutions is now officially a HP SitePrint Certified Service Provider.

This is a significant milestone for PLS and represents far more than simply owning and operating a HP SitePrint robot.

Achieving certification has involved extensive hands-on training, working directly with HP and Global Survey, and developing our knowledge across the complete SitePrint process - from CAD file preparation and robotic total station setup, through to safe operation, accurate printing, quality assurance and project reporting.

We have also invested considerable time operating the technology across real New Zealand construction sites, learning how to manage different surfaces, site conditions, control networks and complex project requirements.

This certification confirms that PLS has the technical knowledge, practical experience and systems required to deliver HP SitePrint projects to the standard expected by HP.

We are incredibly proud of how far we have come, but this is only the beginning. Our goal remains clear: to provide New Zealand’s construction industry with the highest standard of robotic set-out, accuracy and service.

A lot of people have seen our videos and photos of the HP SitePrint robot in action, but don’t always realise what it’s capable of.

HP SitePrint allows us to print entire floor plans directly onto concrete slabs with millimetre accuracy. This can include frame lines, frame ID’s, door openings, bracing, electrical layouts, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures and much more.

The real benefit isn’t just speed - it’s clarity.

On recent projects, we’ve identified slab penetrations in the incorrect position, slabs out of square, floor deviations, and rebates out of place. All things that might have not been realised until much later in the project, causing costly delays. We help the builders get real clarity and confidence going into framing and fit out.

For larger projects, multiple trades can work from the same accurate layout - improving communication and reducing mistakes across the build.

Less measuring.
Less rework.

Big print, a few challenges, but nothing we couldn’t work through. Identifying slab issues early, checking penetrations, and fine-tuning frame locations before construction begins can save a huge amount of time and stress later on.

That’s the benefit of seeing the full plan printed on the slab before the build gets underway.
