Lipedema is a neuro-immuno-metabolic condition 👀

Most women like myself think lipedema surgery is a reset button and in many ways it is:
Pain reduces.
Volume reduces.
Inflammation often improves.
But what most women are never told is surgery only removes diseased tissue not the disease environment itself.
Because Lipedema is not just ‘fat storage’ It’s a chronic inflammatory, connective tissue condition influenced by immune signalling, lymphatic function, hormones, and the nervous system.
That means even after surgery, those underlying systems are still active. So when women say “it came back” it’s usually not regrowth in the way people imagine.
Rather It’s the same biological environment expressing itself again over time and this is why two women can have the same surgery but completely different long-term outcomes.
One builds a post-op system that supports her body, while the
other goes back to baseline habits and physiology.
This is where hiring a coach often becomes invaluable because strength training is a non-negotiable for Lipedema management. Muscle is your life insurance policy for longevity. Not only does it make you look incredible it protects your bones, it gives you better metabolic and tissue support and improves lymphatic flow.
While Lipedema surgery does reduce the load immensely.. your daily inputs determine what happens next.

I’ve been around the fitness industry long enough to notice a pattern.
A controversy breaks. Everyone rushes to condemn it. Influencers post their outrage. Brands distance themselves. Virtue signals fly everywhere.
Then a few months pass… Maybe a year.
The company rebrands, lays low, or quietly returns. The outrage fades and then many of the same people who were publicly denouncing it are suddenly happy to take the sponsorship, promote the products, or pretend none of it happened.
Because the internet has a short memory. Though, real accountability isn’t a temporary social media pile-on. It’s transparency, consequences, and consumers remembering long after the headlines disappear.
Time will tell whether this situation follows the same script, but if history has taught me anything, it’s that outrage is often temporary while profits are forever.
What do you think are we seeing accountability, or just another cycle of outrage and amnesia?

They told women like me we’d never be able to bodybuild. That our bodies were too damaged, too different, too limited. But every rep, every workout, every step forward proves otherwise. Never let someone else write your story. You get to define your own narrative.
Four years ago I made a commitment to change and that I would not just succumb to Lipedema progressing and that I was doomed to never have the body of my dreams. While it isn’t perfect I do not expect it to be.
What are you doing to show up for yourself lately?
Was there anything more terrifying as a millennial than your Furby turning on at midnight and prattling out some deranged demon chant. I love them, my kids are terrified of them. IYKYK

I made a commitment to myself to be the most authentic version of me that I could. Things I stopped doing along the way:
No longer people pleasing
No longer thinking everyone disliked me
No more instant reactions
No more shrinking myself to try to fit in
No more letting people use me
People look at this physical transformation that took me 12 months and go WOW but they do not see the true mental gymnastics it took to get there and how much I had to shift my mindset to make it happen.
