Just what the mountain needs.

Good news.

As we head towards the last quarter of our season, we want to stop and acknowledge our friends in Auckland and Northland. We know that you have been doing it tough and we thank you for your commitment to stopping the spread of Covid-19.

To those of you who own a 2021 season pass, we know that when you bought your pass, you would have been hoping to make the most of it. So were we. While we all see a glimmer of hope in Auckland’s recent move to Alert Level 3, it looks like up to half of your winter season with us could be impacted by lockdown.

We’d like to make some good on that.

For anyone in Auckland and Northland who is unable to use their season pass more than four times this season, we would like to offer you a 50% credit toward a 2022 season pass. This credit will be applied to your Mt Ruapehu profile and be able to be redeemed online when we open our 2022 season pass campaign on Friday 22 October.

In addition to this, we’d like to offer all existing season pass holders, not just limited to Auckland and Northland, the opportunity to renew at the same rate as 2021 (excluding free passes). We will share our broader 2022 pricing with you on the 22 October, but you can be assured, any changes in paid season pass prices will not impact you. More detail to come.

With your 2021 season pass purchase you would have been allocated four x buddy passes, for use on an anytime pass. Weekdays remain the best days to visit the maunga and we’d like to extend your four buddy passes to include weekdays for the rest of the season. That is, bring a buddy or four, and they can get 50% off the already discounted weekday prices.

Our season is the longest in New Zealand and we remain intent on extending our season into November, as long as the conditions allow. In the last week we have seen the Far West T open for the first time this season and the West Ridge Quad for the first time in two seasons. The spring skiing conditions have been lush.

Again, to our Auckland and Northland friends, we hope that you will be able to join us at some point before the season ends. For now, the rest of the country will continue to ride for you.

It’s Earlybird Season Pass time again! The sale starts this Friday.

But this year, we’re going to release fewer of them.

2020 has been a hell of a year for all of us. So we’ve taken the time to reimagine what matters most – you and your experience with us.

You want more runs, more time for the wide and long, and steep and deep. We want that for you too. So if more good times require fewer passes being sold, then we're down with that. That’s why we’re limiting the number of passes available to 20% less than this year.

The 2021 season at Mt Ruapehu is alI about you being able to make the most of every day you hit the mountain, and a deliberate shift for us towards sustainable guest numbers.

2021 Season Pass holders get:

• A FREE Youth Season Pass with each Adult Season Pass sold*
• Early access to book parking each week, at no charge**
• Free skiing from purchase until the end of season 2020 (including our November extensions)
• 4 x Anytime Buddy passes***
• Discount on food & beverage and retail, now increased to 15%
• Night skiing at Whakapapa

* Proof of guardianship required. For our Life Pass holders, we have a $100 voucher for up to two dependent youth (up to 17 years of age), we’ll get this to you shortly.

** Bookable Parking in place weekends only from 7-10am. And one more thing for our valued Life Pass Holders...we are making you the commitment now that Life Pass Holders will not need to book parking weekly in 2021. Closer to winter we will come back to you with some more information on how this will work.

Doing all we can to continually improve your experiences here – means that if we're to deliver more, we can't do it for less. We've applied some fresh thinking about the role price plays in affecting visitor numbers, especially at peak times.

So, yes, we’re capping the number of season passes. But we’re also hoping to smooth the peaks by widening the price gap between Anytime and Weekday passes.

The price of an Earlybird Adult Anytime Season Pass is $599 until the end of October or until sold out.

There is now just one Season Pass sale period. Season Pass buyers have until the end of October (or until we sell out) to save 40% on full price Adult Season Passes. There will be no other sales periods.

With fewer Season Passes available you had better be quick.
