The highlight of this month was being named the 2025 Business Debelopment Manager of the Year by The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ). Again, thank you for all the support and kind words that you have all sent me to celebrate this recognition.

With Spring just around the corner, we’re seeing a surge of new tenants entering the market.
The key drivers? 2026 school zoning, the desire to be settled before Christmas, and a preference for more modern living spaces.

Looking ahead to September, we expect this trend to continue. As always, homes that are well-presented and priced in line with the market are being snapped up quickly by quality tenants!

I am packing my bags, and heading overseas, to enjoy some sunshine and vitamin SEA with my family on Friday 🏝️🥂🍾

Before they announced my award at the REINZ awards last Monday night, they shared the following as an intro.

These words mean as much as the award does, so I want them to have a permanent place on the grid.

July was a busy month for our team in the Manukau office. We tenanted 83 properties, in a very tough market.

A special shout out to these 2 incredible property managers who smashed out a new PB.

25 properties between them.

Another busy month, which included time in Taranaki with the team. They are in growth mode and have some exciting events on the horizon locked in.

We had a record breaking number of properties let in July in our Auckland team. Yes that’s right!!! In the middle of winter, with a shortage of quality tenants, and a market flooded with stock.

Understanding marketing is key - what rents properties quickly and well. We pride ourselves on our formula to get this right.

Working with a team of quality property managers, who understand the urgency required to have their properties income producing, ensures we get the job done well.

As always, it’s the people I work with that allow me to get my own job done well.

As a BDM, I can only do my work with 100% belief and belief in my team is 10/10.

Every person plays a pivotal part in the success of our business and I couldn’t do, what I do, without 100% belief in this team.

Here’s to our amazing team! 💪✨

to 27/10/2020 — a special moment captured just after my husband and I renewed our wedding vows.

What I didn’t know then was that this day would also change the entire course of my career. A chance conversation (champagne in hand, of course 🥂) led to an interview the following week with my now boss, Alex Watson. Just like that, I started a new role in January 2021 as the Business Development Manager at The Rent Shop.

Fast forward to yesterday — I received the news that I’m a finalist for BDM of the Year 2025!

4 years in the business.
4 years as a REINZ BDM of the Year finalist.
Still pinching myself.

I’m beyond proud of what I’ve achieved in this new chapter of my life and so grateful to work alongside an incredible team of property managers. I couldn’t do what I do without them.

It’s an honour to represent The Rent Shop and be recognised in an industry I truly love.
