Yeeted out of the comfort zone today.
Never like doing detailed backgrounds but I've had this concept sitting in the back of my head for years.
Heavily inspired by the Goblin Forest trail on Mt Taranaki, when I walked through it I could easily imagine a mossy dragon nestled amongst the trees, with equally mossy fae cats keeping a watchful eye over the forest and those who explore it.

All set and ready to roll!!
What happens when you don't review your setup before a convention?
You forget how to set up your stall.
It took me a WHILE to figure out what I was doing but we got there in the end thanks to some wellygeddon photos and shuffling around the panels.

Feels good to be working on this again.
I had put it off after his passing and didn't know if I'd be able to revisit or finish it, a part of me wasn't sure I could do him justice.
Hopefully I can keep up this momentum❤️

Something a bit different from my usual work.
My day job places me around some pretty impressive animals and it's always an honour being able to lead this champ out to his races.

Massive credit to the ever amazing photographers from Race Images NZ.
Might i add that no matter how much I used to draw horses, their anatomy is always incredibly difficult😭

So we're looking back at 2016?
Buckle up buttercup, its been a long 10 years.
2016 started as it usually did, a game of spotlight with a bunch of friends at new years on a beach.
It very quickly unraveled into what could be called 'The Year from Hell' as i underwent 8 months of chemo, surgeries, chronic pain, nausea and the grossest of hospital foods.
Needless to say, Bone Cancer wasn't on my 2016 bingo card.
10 years to the date and im free, cleared remission at the 5yr mark and kept going.
So, here's to a 2026 with no nasty surprises.

Last 2 photos are pretty gnarly, be warned❤️
