How very appropriate that our show Michael James Manaia is on at this time - it's Vietnam Vets Day this Friday - Letter to the Herald from Wally Te Ua - Remembering Long Tan
Aug 16 2023 Opinion 1 min read
Long Tan Day or NZ Vietnam Veterans Day this year falls on Friday, August 18 and marks 57 years since that historic battle.
D Company 6 Royal Australian Regiment contacted and fought off a large enemy force in a rubber plantation near Nui Day, with 161 Battery Royal New Zealand Artillery and other support elements also heavily involved in the battle. Both countries commemorate this event each year on August 18 in the spirit of our joint Anzac heritage.
As the years roll on, the number of Vietnam veterans diminishes. We have become the inheritors of the mantle previously held by our World War Two fathers and uncles. Like them, we answered the call to duty when our country needed us.
Now as we age and become frail, we remember all our brothers who were injured or lost their lives in this conflict.
Ka maumahara tatou ki a ratou. Lest we forget.

Only 4 shows left - another standing ovation last night. Don't miss out. Door-sales still available tonight but tickets now selling fast - word has got out about how good this show is. Congratulations to Norman MacLean and Lawrence Mulligan

Door sales available for tonight's show 7.30 pm

Hello Norman MacLean. To say we were utterly blown away by Lawrence Mulligan's performance and your incredible directorship would be an understatement! What an incredible show and I can only say we felt it should be taken to other centres as its such a professional production! Congratulations to you both and we do hope that the remaining performances are packed to the rafters.
Gisborne folk are shockers for leaving their bookings to the last possible minute and then upset that they can't get a seat! We will be encouraging as many folk as we can to see this outstanding show. (Thanks to Gill and Den Paling for these kind words)
