As a family of Scouts, we are united in sorrow for the loss of our Patron, HM The Queen. She leaves a bright legacy of hope and promise for future generations. Together, we will honour her memory.
We will remember her and give thanks for her kindness, her service, and the unwavering support she showed our movement over many decades. She was truly a friend to Scouts everywhere.
The Queen smiles at two young people while stood with Prince Philip and Bear Grylls.
I will miss her quiet leadership, her values and integrity, and her wonderful sense of humour. While she was our monarch and Patron, she always made time to listen to our Scouts and recognise their achievements. Her smile would light up the room.

There are still a few places left for Canoe School. Sunday 15th January to Saturday 21st January 2023. After some initial training we are off down the Whanganui River. This is Scouting at its best. But it’s not just canoeing. You will learn how to load a canoe, how to handle your canoe in rapids and how to read the water ahead of you and how to work in a team. And you’ll visit a bunch of places that are only accessible from the river. No previous canoeing experience is required. But you must be able to confidently swim 100 metres in full gear.

🐦 🦅 🕊 in Tairawhiti to keep an eye out for ..,
Today is World Wetlands Day and we’re celebrating with a recent exciting find of the North Island Fernbird in Tairawhiti 🤩 These birds are only found in wetland habitats and are becoming rarer due to habitat loss and predation by rats, mustelids and cats. They are also very secretive, so they are more often heard than seen.

Study reveals impact 10 minutes of exercise can have on adults over 40 We know that regular exercise has many health benefits, but new research is showing just what impact that may have on the population. More than 110,000 deaths a year could be prevented if adults over 40 spent 10 more minutes a day on moderate physical activity, according to a new study.

As more info re Scouts operating in Red traffic light Covid setting becomes available it will be shared here.
➡️ please do not be offended if our volunteers ask to scan your vaccine pass if you enter the hall when picking up or dropping off your young person. This is a requirement of operating under the vaccine pass system. Better yet, wait outside to pick up your young person.
➡️ Be calm, be kind and please remember your masks 😷, and to scan in.

➡️ The start date for Term 1 2022 for Cubs and Scouts will be announced on here this friday.
➡️ But, the Group won’t be starting back until after Waitangi weekend at the earliest.
➡️As we are a small group we can continue in-person scouting in Covid19 Red light setting: with some extra safety guidelines, including and mask-use indoors and vaccinated adults only allowed inside the Hall 😷 💉🏡
Term 1 Start for Cubs: Thursday 13th Feb 2020
