We are really sad and disappointment to announce that our April show Annie is now cancelled.
Statement from New Zealand Symphony Orchestra:
With New Zealand moving to Red in the Covid-19 Protection Framework, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming Baroque Series tour, The Art of Fugue.
The Art of Fugue tour was to begin in Wellington on 11 February, followed by concerts in Paraparaumu, Gisborne, Whakatāne, Tauranga, Auckland and Kerikeri until 19 February. The restrictions on capacity and physical distancing required for public events at Red mean we are no longer able to perform these concerts.
All ticket holders will be refunded.
Our hearts are sad with the news of cancellation. Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival have made the conscious decision to put the safety of the community first ❤ Doesn't make it any easier tho' 😥 Arohanui to the organisers and all the artists involved.
Due to the recent community outbreak of COVID-19 Omicron and the move to a Red Light in the COVID Protection Framework across Aotearoa, it is with heavy hearts that Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival’s special, postponed Summer event has been cancelled.
CEO and Artistic Director Tama Waipara says, “With this already being a moved event, a further postponement is not viable at this time. We support the Government’s efforts to keep our people safe and well, and will continue to plan for our usual festival later in 2022.
“Our sincerest aroha goes out to all our artists, crew, suppliers, ticket holders and community who have backed us since our inception in 2019. We look forward to returning later in the year with the full might of our creative abundance in Tūranga-nui-ā-Kiwa and the wider Te Tairāwhiti region.”
The cancelled events are:
La Vie En Rose
Hīhi - A Song of Place
Anna Coddington and Julia Deans
All That Glitters is Gizzy
Dragons Diva Den
Black Sea Golden Ladder with Troy Kingi and Delaney Davidson
The F Word with Tami Neilson
Sunshine Soul Sessions
All tickets will be refunded or able to be donated. Ticket holders will be contacted directly by iTicket however due to the high volume of event changes across the country at the moment, this process may be slower than usual.
The annual, proudly local arts festival will return to its usual spot later in the year. The full programme will be announced mid-year. For more information in the meantime, please visit www.tetairawhitiartsfestival.nz

THE ART OF FUGUE
Vesa-Matti Leppänen Director/Violin

Bach Selection from the Art of Fugue
Bach Concerto for Oboe and Violin in D
Rameau Les Boréades Suite
The NZSO’s popular Baroque Series returns with masterpieces from Bach and Rameau.
The Art of Fugue is one of Bach’s most well-known Organ works. Here though, you’ll see and hear the complex and fugal interplay performed in an entirely different way with this arrangement for string orchestra.
Section Principal Oboe Robert Orr and NZSO Concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppänen are sure to bring their special magic to the intricate interweaving parts of Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin before Rameau’s dramatic, almost Operatic Les Boréades Suite.
Tickets are now on sale for this concert on Tues 15 Feb at Gisborne War Memorial Theatre. To book please click on the link below

Inspiring work by Dancefit Studios Limited ! What a great achievement bringing their year end concert to fruition. 🎵🎶🤩
At the conclusion of the fourteenth year I sit at the lighting desk speechless. Never in my dancing dreams did I anticipate this. It’s safe to say my emotions have peaked - I’m smiling out to the kids but internally I’m a crying mess. This has been the hardest event to organise and now actually accept. This is it.
A theatres purpose is to co-exist in a shared space between maker and audience. Not only do we create an experience for dancers who are performing, we are sharing the choreography with our fellow audience members that acknowledge it and join the journey we are on.
I originally planned this end of year show to be titled “ENCORE”.
500 empty red seats in-front of me today - there will be no encore. The feeling in here is simply surreal.
Our dancers have trained so damn hard the past six months, and (YES) I know they are still just as excited to dress up, get under the colourful lights, feel the vibration of the music and dance “like no ones watching”.
To our loyal clientele - I now blame you for the tears I shed. You’ve shown us nothing but gratitude and support with this sub-event. Everyone has absorbed the info and shown up ready to go. Parents you are our silent cheerleaders - and we just could not do this without you.
Today is a milestone and an honour to be filming “Permission to Dance with Somebody”. I cannot wait for the entertainment industry to regain its former state and share these four walls with you all again.
On behalf of my sailors and all the passengers on this almighty ship we •T H A N K • Y O U •

To our valued ticket holders,
Due to New Zealand’s most recent COVID restrictions, ‘A Celtic Christmas’ 2021 New Zealand Tour has been postponed until 2022.
At present, the indoor event capacity is limited, and with many of our audiences sitting above this quota, we have worked tirelessly to reschedule our New Zealand tour dates in order to provide the best and safest experience for all our venues, patrons and team.
All tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled dates (listed below) and all patrons will be contacted directly by each venue and/or the relevant ticketing companies in due course. We ask you to hold onto your tickets for the postponed dates.
Postponements affect our crew, management, performers, venues, partners and so many more, and it is only through your ongoing support that we are able to bring our productions to New Zealand.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful venue staff who have worked around the clock to make the postponement of our tour possible as well as all of our patrons for their ongoing support throughout and post the pandemic environment.
Whilst this is certainly not an ideal situation - the show must go on! And we have no doubt that when it does, it will be well worth the wait.

CALLING ALL KIWIS… The Aotearoa live music, entertainment and concert
sector needs your help!
With the current COVID-19 Delta outbreak our much-loved traditional summer of music,
entertainment and festivals is in danger, and we are urging music fans and those who love going
to any form of gigs to go get vaccinated now so we can all enjoy some awesome live tunes together
Aotearoa has been lucky in the fight against COVID-19 to say the least. The first half of 2021 has
brought us many small and large-scale events in a time when the rest of the world was still in
restriction. Because of our nation’s hard and fast approach to lockdowns we have been rewarded
with the freedoms to socialise and enjoy live music and entertainment together. We want that to
continue and there is only one way for that to happen.
Earlier this week, the New Zealand Government announced the roll-out of vaccination certificates
in New Zealand, with a plan to launch in November this year. Commonly used overseas, the
certificates would provide proof that individuals have been fully vaccinated, and the Government
is likely to make the use of these certificates mandatory for large scale events.
Artists throughout Aotearoa are getting on board and encouraging fans to get vaccinated now. LET'S GET BACK TO LIVE!
