Steam Train Wa165 GCVR

Comments

These are some of my photographs from today's visit, which was also my first time ever going to Gisborne.
Please note that in keeping with the Covid Traffic Light System, as from 03 December 2021, GCVR will require ALL passengers (aged 12 years and 3 months or older) to show their valid "My Vaccine Pass" prior to boarding the train.
Our 2021/2022 excursion season is well underway with trips planned through the Summer to Queens Birthday Weekend. Some of our trips are planned to be hauled by our Diesel-Electric engine DSC2759. See our Website www.gcvr.org.nz for full details.
Over the long weekend, delagates from Weka Pass Railway joined around 50 others at the annual Federation of Rail Organisations of New Zealand - FRONZ conference in sunny Gisborne.

The formalities of the conference were held at the Emerald Hotel. Shared discussions covered topics from internal auditing and compliance to climate change considerations on heritage operators. Breakout sessions facilitated the specialised needs of the tramway groups, private heritage railway operations, and those operators who run (or aspire to run) on the National Rail System, who are subject to particularly stringent legal requirements.

Steam Train Wa165 GCVR was the host group, and looked after us well. We were treated to a 35km return train ride to Muruwai.

An awards dinner was held on Sunday evening. Our congratulations go out to the winning groups.

Such conferences facilitate priceless networking with like minded operators, rail participants, and our licensors
