Hello Gisborne potters! It looks like I'll be moving to your area for work soon, and I am very much looking forward to getting my hands muddy in Gizzy!

My first task is to find housing, and I'm wondering if any local potters may know someone in the community with an available rental. If so, please send me a message. Thank you so much! I look forward to studio time with you all!
Exciting! We are getting ready to hang the Gisborne Artists' Society, Gisborne Pottery Group and Gisborne Camera Club annual exhibition. Fantastic variety this year - it's great to have a sneak peek as the works have come in to the gallery today.

Unfortunately we can't proceed with the preview this Friday while we are level 2, but the show will be ready to view from Saturday morning (29 August) and we hope to be able to announce an event/s later in the exhibition run.

Please come in and support our local artists. If something catches your eye it also might be a good time to ensure your Friends of Tairawhiti Museum membership is up to date and receive a 10% discount on your purchase.

Last year, due to covid restrictions, we didn't have an 'opening' as such. 30th July 2021... What a fantastic turnout for the opening of the Gisborne Artists, Potters and Photographers annual exhibition at Tairawhiti Museum on Friday night. There is of course some extra special pieces on show... Peggy Ericson's tangata whenua and raku landform vessel. Thanks Jamie for your lovely words about our dear incredible Peggy. Jamie and Peggy were great mates and loyal kiln buddies. As Jamie said 'she was just a fantastic, strong woman'. We will all miss her friendship, her creativity and especially her positivity. Thank you to everyone who pulls such an event together... Jolene, as always so beautifully curated. Big Thanks to you too Eloise! Get along to the museum and check out whats on offer!! 💕

The mighty Kauri

Barry Brickell, founder of Driving Creek embarked on a rather significant conservation journey that continues today. A journey to return the land back to its early state. He planted thousands of native trees including young Kauri, totara and rimu. Upon realising he wouldnt live to see a fully grown Kauri on his property.... What does he do?????
