Eeekkk!!!

One of my goals this year is to be more confident on camera and I would love your support with my journey.

Coming to grips with sharing something that isn't perfect in my eyes is always hard but if I never give it a go I will never get any better and I am hoping some of you can relate to this feeling. I know with practice, I can make 'perfect' and bring you even better video content.

So this month I am going to be posting a new educational video to the Ask Academy each day, nothing too long or too intense just something to get you thinking at this time of the year.

If you want to learn something new, see my journey to confidence, or grow your businesses sales this year check out the Academy below and join the growing community of women just like you.

As 2022 draws to a close we all take time to reflect on the year,

I have taken some time to think about the moments this year that have had the biggest impact on my life.

1. Being a guest speaker at the Business and Professional Women Conference, meeting a whole bunch of women of all generations passionate about making change for the future of women and girls around the world.

2. Mentoring 40 students with Empathy in Action and gifting 'The Alice Kibble award for going above and beyond' to an inspiring student.

3. Getting told I needed a 4th surgery on my ankle and having to go through lots of pain all over again

4. Getting my car wrapped orange... need I say more?

5. Attending Festival for the Future by myself and feeling totally at ease talking with strangers as I finally know my 'why'

6. Getting news of a family emergency during a workshop with a room full of clients and feeling comfortable just to be me

7. Launching the Ask Academy coaching start-up businesses long term and feeling my business growing

Every year has its ups and downs but this year I am ending on a high note, stronger, happier, and more confident in what the future holds for Ask Alice 🧡

Thank you for being here!

We don't care right now!!

Today we are going to bust a myth, you do not have to post a photo the minute you take it.

As a society we have created a culture of constantly needing to know what's happening when it happens.

BUT don't get caught in this net when it comes to your Social Media content.

I encourage my clients to plan their content and schedule it in a month in advance so they can LIVE THEIR LIFE without constantly thinking of the next moment to capture a photo for their socials.

So.. next time you snap a picture hold onto it and schedule it for later and enjoy that little bit of your life back.

16/12/2022

Perfection is not a Social media strategy!

Over this next month, I encourage you to tap into your passion and let it shine through your content.

Do you remember a time you met someone face to face and they were just so passionate about something it took your breath away?

I DO!

Give your followers the same feeling by showing them you on a little bit of a deeper level.

What makes you tick!

We want to remind everyone to be extra vigilant of online scams and think twice before sharing private information.

💸 A genuine bank or organisation will never contact you to ask for your PIN, password or to move money to another account.

💸 Never click on a link in an unexpected email or text – you could be giving access to your personal and financial details.

💸 Always question uninvited approaches in case it is a scam. Instead, contact the company directly using a known email or phone number.

💸 Don’t assume an email or phone call is authentic – just because someone knows your basic details (name and address, or mother’s maiden name) it doesn’t mean they are genuine.

💸 Don’t be rushed into making a decision or financial transaction on the spot – a genuine bank or trusted organisation would never do this.

💸 Listen to your instincts – if something feels wrong then it generally is.

If you believe you are the victim of a scam you can contact Police and report the matter via 105 either by phone or online at www.police.govt.nz/use-105

Visit scamwatch.govt.nz for more information on how you can prevent yourself, family and friends from being scammed.

Look after your personal details in the same way you would your wallet and other possessions. Your personal details are very valuable to scammers, they will use your details to take out loans or run up debts if they can. If something looks or sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If a victim believes they have been scammed and lost money, it is critical that they report this matter to their bank immediately. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of a crime, online or in person, should also get in touch with Police.

One thing I will always listen to in my business is my intuition.

My intuition has led me to running for council, resigning from jobs, starting a business, being apart of Taiki e whanau and working with you!

Cant be that bad after all!!

07/12/2022

Just face it, they aren't the right client!

If you haven't heard it before, you are hearing it now NOT EVERYONE is your ideal client!

As time moves on in your business you will find the client you enjoy working with the most or the service you enjoy offering the most, and not every client that comes along is going to be right for you.

Here is how to tell!

They don't align with your vision for the world you are trying to create.

A key sign is someone that takes more from you than they give.

If someone doesn't engage with your story or posts its probably because they didn't align with what you are trying to achieve in the first place!

Maybe... they just aren't the right client!

04/12/2022

You need to make your first impression count!

We decide within 3 seconds whether we like something or not, its a very short window to capture your audiences attention!

And it can make or break your relationship with that person instantly.

Have a think about this

Any time of the day, any day of the year a new potential customer might stumble across you page and they will quickly look at 3 things

Your profile picture
Cover photo

And if they make it this far your last 5 posts.

So remind yourself, your only as good as your last 5 posts so make them count.

02/12/2022

We are taking an extended break this Christmas season due to having ankle surgery in the weeks leading up to Christmas, we will be closed on the 7th December and reopening 9th January to seeing our clients face to face.

For urgent enquires you can send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

The suns out and your out of excuses its time to make a reel for your Social media!

To create a basic Instagram reel do these 4 things

1. Make sure the video is good quality, nothing worse than a blurry video!

2. Hook people in to watch more in the first 3 seconds by asking a question or making a statement

3. Make a quality cover using a canva story template, it will make a difference.

4. Ensure you have good lighting, natural lighting works best, so now is the perfect time to get filming.

What else do you think would make a good reel for your business?

Knock Knock Knock!!!

OMG GO AWAYY!! We aren't interested in what you are selling!!

We have all been there! So don't keep knocking on the doors of your followers over and over again.

Balance is important when it comes to social media content you need to make sure that posts that educate, inform, entertain and inspire your audience out way the promotional stuff otherwise people just wont open the door!!

Is your content balanced?

25/11/2022

I live by this!

Everything in my life happens for a reason, breaking my leg, running for council, starting a business and you reading this post it all has happened for a reason.

So what ever you are feeling or going through right now remember everything makes a lot more sense in hindsight.

You've got this!

Struggling for content ideas for December?

Here are 5 you can use for your business or organisation:

1. Share your Christmas Wishlist or Bucketlist OR make one up for your customers/clients.

2. People love a bargain and things are getting more an more expensive, show 3 things you sell that are affordable gifts.

3. Let everyone know when you are closed for the Holidays, its a good idea to pin this one to the top of your page for a couple weeks.

4. What has been your best selling product of 2022 or what product didn't do so well and needs a little bit of love!

5. What are three things you have learnt over the last year, make it relatable to your followers.

Have you got some more ideas?

This Fraud Awareness Week, Police are again wanting to remind potential purchasers of the some of the risks of buying via Facebook Marketplace.

Police regularly see reports relating to instances where a fake, or doctored, screenshot has been shown or sent to the seller – however these can be spotted if you know what you’re looking for.

💸 Look for differences in formatting – are there different fonts used or does the text size vary?
💸 Compare the screenshot to one of your own bank – does it look legitimate?
💸 Is the senders name clearly listed? Often an account name does not appear on a fake screenshot.

If you’re not sure, Police urge sellers to make sure the money is in your account, and the funds have been cleared, before handing over or posting the items.

We suggest the following for every time you choose to buy and sell online:

💸 First and foremost, we recommend using a reputable online site to buy or sell items.
💸 Check the social media profile of the seller. Is it a new profile or relatively blank? There's a chance it may be a fake profile.
💸 If the trader insists on meeting at a public place or unusual location to make a sale, be cautious. It may be that they are selling stolen items or don't want to be identified for some other reason.
💸 Equally, if purchasers are reluctant to meet in person or insist items are dropped off at a location, they may be avoiding being seen or identified.
💸 Purchasers who are in a rush to complete a transaction.
💸 Consider cash as a safe alternative to online banking for pickup and pay transactions.
💸 As the saying goes: if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

If you wish to report a social media scam, contact Police on 105 or report it online via 105.police.govt.nz/use-105.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
