Parry Field Lawyers are proud to support the work of Hagar New Zealand and this year some fundraising had an unusual twist, Catherine Hattaway, our Law Clerk who is to be admitted to the bar this coming Friday, volunteered to travel the 2 flights of stairs in the office foyer for a whole hour so people could guess how many steps she could do in this time. Parry Field donated $5,000 towards this important work targeting the elimination of modern day slavery and transforming the lives of some of the world’s most traumatised women and children.

And the ANSWER IS: 6600 steps!!!
A BIG thank you to everyone who guessed how many steps Parry Field Lawyers Law Clerk Cat managed to travel in one hour on Friday afternoon!
The closest guess was 6579 (which was pretty close) and even though it's not quite within 10 steps of the final total, the awesome team at Parry Field Lawyers have said that they will still give $5000 to Hagar's Scale Up in Cambodia! HOW AMAZING IS THAT!?
Please comment below and congratulate Cat on being such an awesome stair traveller and the team at Parry Field Lawyers for their incredible support in so many ways!

Every now and then we get an opportunity to help those who help others and to see first hand what these special people do. It was a pleasure to help Oxford Bird Rescue Trust get registered as a charity and meet them and some of their wonderful owls on Sunday. We wish them all the best

Parry Field Lawyers are proud of their team who volunteered their time this public holiday weekend to cook for the residents at the Ronald McDonald House. Parry Field Lawyers purchased and supplied the food and partnered with Rotary Club of Papanui with Lois Flanagan organised the event. Head cook Sarah McCusker along with Catherine Hattaway, Emma Hayes, Billie Pitchard and her sister Rosealie dished up a delicious winter roast followed by cake and ice cream. #givingbackmatters #volunteers #publicholiday2021

Another great startup event this morning by Ministry Of Awesome hearing about “Founder Hustle” from Jack Wood on Komodo Health and Heather Pearson on Calm Pipe and Ron Park on Kōrure. Key takeaways:

“Grab attention (use first 3 seconds), tell a story (we buy things because of emotional connection), be confident (fake it till you make it) and give a call to action (always)...”.

“Define what a good customer looks like for you - if the fit is not right, be honest - find the right customer and really work to understand and meet their needs”

“You need each of a hipster, hustler and a hacker in your founding team...”

“Own your mistakes...”

Governance for Faith Based Organisations | Parry Field Lawyers

Governance for faith based organisations is not the same as for other entities. We have dealt with both types of structures for many decades and wanted to set out some key thoughts in this article. This was originally prepared as a paper presented at the Legalwise “Religion and the Law” conference held on 30 October 2021. The paper was written and presented by Steven Moe, a Partner at Parry Field Lawyers.

Our Story

We have been serving you since 1948. Our founder Glynn Parry was joined in partnership by Brian Field in the early 1950’s. From the late 1970’s Peter van Rij, Ken Lord and (from the mid 1980’s) Grant Adams have led the firm into a new period of growth. Today we have grown to eight Partners, 40 staff and operate from three locations (Christchurch, Rolleston and Hokitika).

“To the heart of what matters”

Our tagline was developed just before the Canterbury earthquakes in 2011 and it saw us through those difficult times. We see the client in a rounded way and want to help them with ‘what really matters’, for legal services and beyond, when appropriate.
