We are absolutely blown away with the result of last night. Cholmondeley Children’s Centre is honoured and so grateful to the fantastic Canterbury community for turning out in support of us last night! Never did we expect that these 55 penguins would collectively sell for over $1,000,000.
The team at Cholmondeley would first like to offer our sincerest thanks to Wild in Art Pop Up Penguins for creating & running this whole event, without you it wouldn’t have been possible. We have seen all the endless hours and hard work put into all different elements- the trail, school programme, farewell weekend and auction over the past 12+ months by the Pop Up Penguins team, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves (we certainly are) Ka Pai team!
Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors for getting behind this great event because of you so much joy was brought to Christchurch over the summer! We are excited many of you got to take home your sponsored Penguin.
We would also like to thank all the artists for creating these beautiful pieces of art! The penguins in our opinion are truly outstanding!
Thank you to everyone who attended last night, we were thrilled you could celebrate the night with us. Congratulations and thank you to all the new Penguin owners, your generosity and support enables us to continue to provide a haven for Canterbury children and their families when they need it most.
Thank you Canterbury for sharing the Pop Up Penguins journey with us!!

**POP UP PENGUINS AUCTION UPDATE**
Due to Christchurch moving into Alert Level 2 from 11.59pm tonight and the restrictions on gatherings to be less than 100 people for the next 72 hours, we are needing to review the upcoming Pop Up Penguins Auction. Sadly, the auction will NOT be going ahead on Tuesday 16th.
If you have booked tickets and registered to bid, you should have received an email to let you know that we are working with our partners to find the best way forward. We will of course be following the government updates closely to ensure whatever we plan, will keep everyone as safe as possible.
As soon as we have a clear plan, we will send out another update.
What we do know is that sometime in the future we will be auctioning 53 penguins from the Pop Up Penguins trail to raise money for Cholmondeley
Thanks so much for your support and your patience as we work through the logistics this change requires!
The Pop Up Penguins Farewell Event is live! All 120 Penguins from the trail are on display today and tomorrow at Air Force Museum of New Zealand
As well as seeing the whole waddle, you can buy official souvenir guides, tea towels, tote bags and tattoos!!
The Rams are also here today, shooting hoops from 12-2pm. See if you can do better than Swish!
Entry is free and it’s open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday. Come and say farewell to the Penguins before they return to their schools or are sold at auction!

**AUCTION DATE CLARIFICATION**
We have just found out that The Star paper has stated that the Pop Up Penguins auction is taking place on Saturday 16 January - oops!
In fact the Pop Up Penguins auction is taking place at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand on TUESDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2021.
Hopefully most of you will know from all of our marketing materials (trail map, website and souvenir guide) the correct date of the auction but we just wanted to clarify here too :)
Tickets will go on sale soon and we will announce this on Facebook, Instagram and our website. If you would like to bid at the auction and buy a penguin, please email [email protected] to receive the relevant registration forms.
Also, we wanted to clarify that the Farewell Event will be held at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February. This is a free event for people to come and see all the penguins on display together, before they are sold at the auction on TUESDAY 16 FEBRUARY.
We wish you a wonderful weekend, that doesn't have a penguin auction at the Air Force Museum. Instead, why not get out and about in the city and find some more penguins on the trail :)
Come on down and see the Team from Tavendale and Partners at the National Equestrian Centre, McLeans Island, Christchurch from Thursday 21 January - Sunday 24 January. We are happy to answer any legal questions you may have.

Check out this cool video! See if you can spot Penelope.
All of a sudden, Christchurch looks a little different for the summer.
We've played a part in bringing a penguin-flavoured feel to the city as the super stoked Creative Partners of this public art trail that's come to play till February.
If you know us, you know that local art events are kind of our thing.
That's why naming and branding Pop Up Penguins was such a sweet-tasting ending to a weird year, and the charity auction will be an equally exciting way to kick off 2021.
A friendly reminder from the team at Tavendale and Partners that although we are excited to see Christchurch get involved in this amazing event, we must respect our aquatic friends as they are works of art.
Kia ora trail followers.
You may see that Best Dressed Hoiho is not where he’s supposed to be, on Worcester Bridge. He’s a gorgeous celebration of colour, designed and painted by Sheyne Tuffery Artist and sponsored by Decipher Group Sadly, he received some unwanted attention on the weekend and he needs to be repaired.
Hopefully it will only take a week to get him back out on the trail and we’re sorry that you can’t see him, as he really is a stunner.
Please help us take care of the penguins so everyone can enjoy them. If you see damage on a penguin please email [email protected]
Thankfully we still have 119 for you to find so have fun this week being out in the sun and discovering all the beautiful art on display!
Wow – Penelope is starstruck by George Bridge and Jess Prosser! All Black George Bridge and Jess Prosser from the Good Oil Tactix have left Penelope with some signed rugby balls and netballs to give away to her friends. Go in the draw to win one of these balls by colouring in the picture of Penelope (which you can find attached to Penelope outside our Christchurch branch) and drop it into our Christchurch office located at Level 3, 329 Durham Street North, Christchurch, or email it to [email protected] #TPpenguin #PenelopePenguin #PopUpPenguins www.tp.co.nz Tavendale and Partners Limited #EXPLORECHC
