31st March is usually an extremely stressful time for accountants, as we work hard to get the last of the tax returns filed with IRD. But this year it's been eased up a bit thanks to the generosity of one of our amazing clients!!

Thanks Adam & Meg and The social platter co. for keeping our team nourished and focussed on getting through the next few days 🥰

Last chance to claim 😄😄
$5K Asset Purchases
Prior to COVID-19 if you purchased an asset under $500, then you could write it off as an expense instead of capitalising it.
This threshold was temporarily increased to $5,000, and you've only got until 16th March 2021 (Today!) before the threshold resets to a new permanent value of $1,000.
So if you've been thinking about investing in some fixed assets for your business, now might be the time to spend up to $5,000 (GST excl) per asset, and take advantage of claiming it as an expense in the 2021 tax year.

It might still be the holidays, but we've always got time to go help out UCE students who are putting in the hard mahi over the summer break to work on their startups 🙌

Massive thank you to Anthony Rohan, for your ongoing support as a mentor and guest speaker at our Summer Startup Programme over the years. Your practical accounting and finance advice is endlessly appreciated. 🙌

Three insights that one of our students, William Murrell, gained from today were:

"1️⃣ Have the mind of a business with the heart of a charity.
2️⃣ Having a good understanding of your 'why', allows you to create a story.
3️⃣ Plans and budgets allow you to know the position of your business to create informed decisions on how to grow and expand."

[12/22/20]   🌲🌲Our office is now closed until Monday 11th January. We have enjoyed our last day celebrating with a team lunch. We want to say a big thank you to all our clients and followers for supporting us this year. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and stay safe ❗️❕❗️❕

Do you want to know how organisations ensure their kaupapa is aligned with the interests of their stakeholders, their employees, whānau, customers, and investors, and vice versa? 😁😁

Tim Jones talks about this over on his page Tim Jones - The Grow Good Guy. We have linked the post below if you would like to check this out. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

How can organisations ensure their kaupapa is aligned with the interests of their stakeholders, their employees, whānau, customers, and investors, and vice versa?

Well, that's what we discussed on this panel event hosted by Berl where the kōrero was with Traci Houpapa Louise Aitken from the Ākina Foundation and me.

We had a cracking chat on kaupapa-led organisations, the connection between business objectives and kaupapa, and much more.

You won't be disappointed.

I had fun recording this 10 minute summary of how to set up an impact driven organisation in Aotearoa New Zealand... 🌱🎧🧩 I answer this question multiple times a week so thought it would help to put this out:

First, a discussion of the three key questions to ask before considering the detail of what structure is best.
Second, we will look at three of the most commonly used legal structures for impact driven people.
Third, some reflections on the way to enshrine impact within those structures and the key things needed.
