Remember the Christians of Syria at this time of crisis, as they call for a day of prayer and fasting on Friday As the US, France, UK and perhaps other countries prepare to attack Syria, and with the possibility of Russian and Syrian retaliation, Syrian Christians see this as a very critical moment for them.

IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #6: NIGERIA
Before the Boko Haram insurgency the agricultural Christian communities in north-eastern Nigeria were self-reliant. But there is targeted violence against Christians and believers have also faced persistent exclusion from food aid and many have come to feel like beggars, facing hunger and malnutrition.
- Pray that believers will hold on to Jesus and not deny their faith despite extreme persecution.
- Pray for women and girls who have been assaulted, kidnapped and abused.
- Pray Boko Haram and other extremists will come to know Christ.
IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #5: ERITREA
Christians in Eritrea live in constant danger. The country has been ruled by a repressive Marxist government since gaining independence from Ethiopia in 1993 after a 30-year war, and religious freedom is severely curtailed. Only three Christian denominations are legally permitted and non-registered groups, which are considered a threat to the state, are severely persecuted.
- Cry out to the Lord on behalf of our brothers and sisters held in Eritrean prisons, who face abuse and torture, with no recourse to proper justice; may they know the presence of the Lord who will never leave them or forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6).
- Pray that repressive power structures will be replaced by a government for justice and truth.
- Pray that believers who have fled will be protected as they travel and that they will find safe places to rebuild their lives.
IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #4: SYRIA
Praise God for a measure of peace and stability in parts of Syria, after six long years of terrible conflict. But life is very, very far from normal. Many Christians – who faced anti-Christian persecution from some rebel groups on top of all the other perils of war – fled their homes, losing jobs and therefore income. The elderly, sick, vulnerable and very poor remained.
Pray for our brothers and sisters in Syria, who have endured six years of conflict and anti-Christian persecution. Each one has experienced or witnessed terrible things. Most have lost homes, jobs, health or loved ones.
- Our prayer: “We praise You for the testimony of so many Syrian believers that these experiences have strengthened their faith. We affirm with them that we consider everything a loss compared with the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, Your Son, our Lord, for whose sake they have lost all things and we are willing to lose all things too, if that is Your will.” (Philippians 3:8)
IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #3: PRAY FOR NATIONS IN THE ARABIAN PENINSULA
A Christian living on the Arabian Peninsula said “We pray for Muslims to see the truth and receive visions and dreams of Jesus. Each year we hear testimonies of that actually happening.”
- Pray that Jesus will continue to reveal himself in the Muslim world
- Pray that local Christians will have wisdom, compassion and boldness as they witness for Jesus.
- Pray for satellite TV and radio broadcasts that are instrumental in sharing the gospel and teaching.
- Pray for secret believers to be able to meet together in fellowship and have access to God’s word.
IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #2: INDIA -
Persecution of Christians in Indian has intensified since Narendra Modi, leader of the right-wing Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), became Prime Minister in 2014. Some communal forces attached to the party are creating an atmosphere of fear among Christians by attacking them and their places of worship.
- Pray for justice and hope in a nation plagued by oppression, poverty, and disease.
- Pray for the growth of the Church despite anti-conversion laws in several states.
- Pray for Christian widows
- So many are unreached with the gospel! Pray for the Good News of Jesus Christ to reach every town and village.
IDOP PRAYER FOCUS #1: NORTH KOREA
- Pray for peace on the Korean peninsula.
- Pray for protection, strength, peace and even joy, for the joy of the Lord is our strength.
- Pray for Christian prisoners to stand firm and be a witness to fellow prisoners.
- Pray for ministry partners who distribute Scripture leaflets in North Korea via balloon launches and other methods.
- Pray for freedom for a people suffering terribly under the repressive regime of their dictator.
